Yes they are!!! :x

This or That Game, Band Name Game, The Cities Game etc. etc. There is similar threads on just about every forum that I have seen, they are quite pointless, somewhat addictive and should be ignored all together. I have seen on another forum a small protest which saw The Band Name Game which was going for two years ignored, and what a releif! It is frustrating viewing the Fender Lounge looking for new posts or replies to my posts to have these silly games right at the top of the page again! And most forums I have seen it is the usual suspects, sure they have the occasional passer by post a band never to return, but it is usually a select few who continously contribute to these games. I wish people would just ignore them and let them die out, or better removed by the moderators. The forum would be such a better place without them and the people who are always posting in these threads might actually benefit from seeing the end of these games all together.

Instead of spending the time to post your vent, you could be practicing guitar or listening to music.

I do find some of the polls and games annoying, but you know what I do? I don't click on those threads. There is enough other stuff to occupy my time on this, and other forums, so if I don't like it, or agree with it, then I just don't open it. If people didn't enjoy those threads, they would die out on their own. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean that everyone else shouldn't like it either. Unless it is vulgar, offensive, abusive, threatening, or is a blatant violation of forum rules/guidelines, I see no harm. Fender has provided this forum for you, if you don't like the rules of this forum, or any other forum, you can get a server and start your own forum banning people from going on that forum and doing something they enjoy, like posting in some weird game or poll, and you don't have to stay here...

Stratoblues, I know your head must feel like it is going to explode. I know the feeling of putting up a post and being shocked at how people could disagree when you feel its a no brainer.lol I agree with you on those mindless post but it is a persons option. Me I just ignore them and get to the meat and potato post. Bowlfreshner you were a lil harsh there, and without a doubt I can tell you were one of those guys the teacher put in charge of the class when she left the room to write down names of people talking.

Hi Strat0Blues: I've noticed that this is absolutely true - those games are particularly popular amongst certain regulars. I've also noticed that those people are amongst the nicest on these pages and contribute far more than the average to this Forum being a friendly, helpful and flame-free zone. So it's OK by me.

I don't visit those threads much, but it tickles me a great deal that (at this moment) 3764 people have taken the trouble to read Brad's sticky on Forum conduct, whereas 378200 have hit on the "What are you listening to today?" thread.

Democracy in action!

Cheers - C

What's the difference? It's all in fun. You can always just skip them.
That's why it posted in the Lounge.

I like some of those threads to get song ideas (song game) and to keep up with what others are listening to.

I just discovered "Kings of Leon" (great band, IMO) because of a post on a thread like that.

I don't think I was harsh there, and you think you know everything but you are wrong with your assumption...

That's what is really cool about that thread. You find songs that you don't hear on the radio, never heard of, or just plain forgot about.

Same reason why I like perusing that thread from time to time. 8)
