How many of the forum user have built there own personal fender style guitar to get exactly what the want. I have been think of putting together a personalized strat for a while to compliment my other guitars and stand out from stock strats. I would love to see picks form other forum users who have conquered this task as well as accept any pointers you might offer. :?:

2 years ago when I was reading about a new blackout tele that was a nashville tele in all black with silver trim, I got the idea of creating my own blackout tele. So, I bought a black body, black single ply pickguard, black tuners, I painted a bridge black, added black graphite saddles, knobs, switches all black and a mighty mite maple neck. I bought decals to put on the headstock, but it looks pretty cool blank. I also originally had Lace Sensors installed and then changed to Jason Lollars and even had the guitar tech attach a black cover plate to the neck pup. There are two screws that aren't black and I could paint them but what the hell. It is a hell of a guitar and reeks of pure Fender tele/strat tone. It just grips and spits out any song your fingers can play!

Hi Orville: we've admired at least two of those a lot already. Trying to remember if I've seen the natural finish one before.

Tell me, on the two curly top guitars, do they have forearm contours? In the case of the sunburst, if it does then I'm guessing it'll be a drop top.

Not sure that's so with the natural finish. Looking at the edges I'm wondering how thick that cap is? If it has a forearm contour, is that made by bending the top or carving into it? If the latter, then it must be very thick - and amazingly expensive!

Whatever: congrats to the owners of all three.

Cheers - C

Oh yeah they all have forearm contours.

They are all Warmoth bodies.

The top two aren't mine (owned by a couple guitar building friends of mine who don't know each other!) and I don't remember how thick the tops are, sorry.

Stewart McDonald ash body with Jackson style neck for Fender body. Seymour Duncan Duc Bucker (bridge) and Hot Rail (middle).

Still under construction with future plans for a tremolo and more clear lacquer. I'd like to get a couple of autographs on it before the final coat.

You can check out Myspace if you want to hear what it sounds like. It has great sustain and harmonics and you don't need an amp to play it.

Putting your own touch on a guitar is a great feeling.
