I think they kinda suck myself - I gave a brand new set away, have a set in one of my strats that I just havent gotten around to taking out

PS - they will NOT give you the SRV tone if thats your goal

Nothing will. But I like my Texas Specials anyway. They're my favorite set of pickups that I've ever played (so far). Just a tip, if you get a set have your guitar tech (or you, if you're able to replace pickups yourself) wire the bridge pickup to one of the tone pots. The bridge pickup doesn't sound that great wide open, but you can get some really, really cool tones when you can control it with a tone knob. :)

Hey Texasguitarslinger!! That sounds like a good idea - I may do that this weekend - the only decent tones ive been able to get with these are on the neck and middle, and it takes a lot of amp tweaker to get it - very thin sounds - ill give the tone pot trick a try, see what happens!!

Yeah, that's exactly what it sounds like without the tone knob. My guitar tech was actually the one who thought of it. I have both of my Strats wired that way now, with the bridge pickup hooked to one of the tone pots. I used to never use the bridge pickup, but now I do a lot more.

I have 2 guitars with them and i like the fat sound i get with them.I know alot of guys lower the height to get a more vintagey sound.I also dont really like the bridge by itself with no tone control either, but that goes for any strat. The neck pickup is one of the best i ever heard.
