Okay, I know most of you guys on here are not KISS fans, no worries there, I've certainly heard that before. But I thought that it has some relevance in this forum. The classic KISS sound was based on Les Paul's and the like, never seen any of the guitarists with a Fender in their hands before now.

This link is from San Diego's Comic.Con expo. I don't know the background on why Paul wasn't there and they were playing 3 pc. I just know that this was unannounced and Tommy /lead player is jamming on something that sure looks like a Telecaster.

I thought that this was interesting, and sounded pretty good for 3 pc.

Another KISS fan, that's cool. I'm just so used to people looking at KISS as a joke, you know the story.

Try this link...

As far as I'm concerned , when Ace and Peter left the group for the second time, they stopped being Kiss.

You're not alone in that opinion, I don't happen to share it. But this isn't the forum for that debate.

This was about the Fender, that's all.

Kiss became a joke to me when they released all that merchandising. And I never really liked their music.

Well, at least this thread has become more of the KISS-bashing I'm used to. I suppose all the stuff the Beatles put out made them a joke too? Gene wasn't smart enough to come up with the idea of dolls, buttons, books, etc on his own.

I guess the point was Tommy was playing what looked like a Tele in the pic, in 20 years I'd never seen any of them with a Fender so I thought I'd share something I thought was kind of cool.

You think The Beatles wanted to put out the merchendising? I mean it was the label wanting to feed off their success.

Either way, I never heard any of the Beatles bitching about the cash coming in from that stuff. And if you have, that's fine too.

Wow, this has been fun going off topic to listen to this same old stuff again on why they're a joke.

Glad I posted this,

Yes, you did. And you're entitled to it, no worries. But again, I wasn't asking for an opinion of what you thought of KISS....same old stuff I hear from so many people who don't like 'em....this eye roll  stands for "yeah, yeah, yeah, they're a joke, they can't play, too much merchandise, no talent, freak show...." or whatever else I missed. Heard it all B4, thanx for that, don't care how you feel about that.

The topic was that the traditional Les Paul that Ace, now Tommy almost exclusively play was replaced by a Tele for a night. So why don't you offer your opinion on that instead.

Yeah, it's a ripping tone for a Tele, if it's a real tele that is. It really struck me since all they ever had were the LP's.

Greatest.... song.....EVER!

I once heard that Kiss would use black MIM Strats with rosewood boards for a song or two and then destroy them as part of their act.... This was a bit over 10 years ago though and I never saw it myself or even had the desire to so it is just a story right now.
