I got to thinking about taking my beloved Acoustic to a College environment, and the more I thought about it the less I wanted to do it. Although my beloved acoustic is an inexpensive Ovation Copy A/E it is a fabulous guitar and I have sold much more expensive A/E guitars and kept this one because of the playability, tone, and feel. However since it is no longer available Left Handed I decided to buy a beater acoustic to take to school.
Today on Craigslist I found a mid 1980's Applause (Ovation) for $60.00!!! It had a small amount of damage that had been professionally repaired. It is dusty and in dire need of some TLC. The guy I bought it from is an old hippie living in a major California College town. I am pretty happy about this find and I'll post some pics after I get it cleaned up and setup for me.

Hey Chet, Ya know sometimes the inexpensive "finds" can play as beautiful as any High dollar job out there. Let us know how it plays

Nice find, Chet!

My experience with CL is that timing is the most important thing. I've seen some great deals, but they go fast.

Does it have an aluminum fretboard with aluminum frets? The early ones did, you know.

A little tip for those of you who own an Ovation style guitar. To clean the back use Colgate toothpaste and Windex. Start by applying a nice amount of the Colgate, rubbing it in in circles. Doesn't take but a few seconds. Then spray on Windex and wipe off the toothpaste. Let it dry.

Hey Chet I think we may need a show your Acoustic thread. I don't think we have had that one and I'm sure that most of us have at least one.

Good Idea. I don't remember seeing a thread like that either.
