I have bought my last piece of Fender gear.

I was at my local music store when they unpacked a new Squire Jazz Bass. To my amazement the fingerboard is made of plastic. Cutting corners to save money is one thing but to replace a fingerboard with plastic is a new low.

There is a marketing guideline that says satisfied customers tell 3 people of their experience. Unhappy customers tell 7 people about their experience.

It's sad to see an icon take the wrong path.......goodbye Fender.

I was at my local dealer last week looking at basses. I have been thinking about getting a bass but didn't want to spend a lot. He had a few Affinity jazz basses and a vintage modified. They all had rosewood fretboards and were really well made. At least the ones I looked at were.
Never heard of any of them having plastic fretboards.

But not as sad - or as frequent - as watching somebody make a jackass of themselves online.

See if you can find which one of these basses has a "plastic" fingerboard.

Talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

That's like refusing to go eat at a really good restaurant because of the bad experience you had once with a fast food restaurant.

And I've never heard of a plastic fretboard (except for graphite on some very high end instruments).

I didn't think they'd stoop that low. I think they all have rosewood boards. But don't give them any ideas. :D

Do you think 7 people now know that Squier Basses have plastic fretboards? Or has he failed to get up the dander of the forum with his miss statement. We need to see about ridding us of his presence.
