Hello,

I would like to know if anyone could recommend a good book on how valve amps work. Preferably something for a beginner who knows little about amps, something that is easy to understand and does not require years just to understand the content. I have read information on the internet and Wikipedia but I still do not understand how valve amps work. And is saying Tube amps or Valve amps the same thing? Cheers.

Yes, they are the same, here on this side of the pond, we call them tube amps, on your side of the pond, they're called valve amps. Just go to music store and play amps, the one YOU like is the one to get.

Evatco (Electronic Valve and Tube Company) publish a range of books that come highly recommended by an amp tech I would trust with my life (well... at least some old and delicate gear -- close enough!). Looks like they've put out heaps of stuff, and they're in Queensland so availability should be good.

Here's Evatco's range of tube-related books...

I'm going to have to go back and browse them myself sometime soon... looks like there are some good ones...
