Any of you record at home? I have a BOSS BR-8 recorder and the band brought a BR-1600 (which I mainly use) to record our second CD.

Yesterday I recorded a song 'Children of War', based another song, that was composed with loops by another guitarist. I didn't use any loops, all the guitar/bass parts were played by me. The drums were a loop from Discrete Drums CD. Here at Sound Click http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=471052.

I have done some at home recording, mainly just to experiment and share new riffs with friends.

I want to get some good recording equipment but I'm new to that whole area and want to learn lots about it before I commit to purchasing anything.

Use to use a little Tascam DP 01 FX for my home recording, it was great for the basic recording that I was doing. Moved on to Computer based recording recently, I now use a MacBook Pro, with a M Audio Fast Trax Pro midi, running into Garage Band, and Logic Express 7.2.

Anyone want to buy a Tascam DP 01 FX 8 track? :P

I record at home for a living, making jingles, soundtracks for TV commercials and short films, making radio commercials and other stuff.

I use DP 5.1 on a Mac Dual G5.... Yamaha 02R, Korg 01/w Pro X and Karma, Kurzweil K2000R, ROland JV1080, Novation SuperNova, Lexicon outboard 'verbs,, POD Pro and Bass, and a pile of other junk.... tons of software synths and plugs, mostly use the Waves stuff for processing and NI synths for instruments...

Check the website for samples, if you want. All of it recorded in my basement studio.

Cool thread, I've been thinking of getting some home recording gear as my next step. Not sure what yet, just window shopping and gathering info right now.

The band's been practicing out of my garage for awhile now, and my drummer and I just went in halves on a Korg D-888 in mint condition we got used at GC's Memorial Day sale for 375. Best piece of recording equipment I've ever used. Plus for writing purposes it makes laying down a guitar track or bassline so simple it seems almost too easy. Just swap it over to the computer, convert it to Mp3 and you're done. Couldn't be happier.

Right now I just go direct into the PC to get song ideas down, but I'm planning on buying some equipment that will allow me to record passable demos. I'll probably start off with a Firepod + sm57 and expand from there with more mics, monitors etc.

I use my PC and my MAC for recording. I use GuitarTracks Pro 3 on the PC and Garageband on the MAC. I really am digging garageband!

I love Garageband, when I am done in Garageband I open my songs up with Logic Express and go back over them to mix... I am a Citrix admin and pay the bill working with Windows, but since i got my Macbook Pro a few months ago, I am a total Mac convert...even went out and bought my wife a macbook, and my daughter a mac mini

I use a 1977 vintage Pioneer open-reel tape deck for recording, tape echo, and loops.

The BR-600 is very easy to use, I can help you with questions. RTFM and try recording.

Interesting that no one mentioned Pro-Tools. I don't do my own recording. But I thought everything was moving to Digitech Pro-Tools.
