I've been starting a collection of vinyl LPs........the guy who sells them at the nearest Flea Market sells them for $3 each.........I got my first 4 last month now I have about 10 and 2 are coming from Ebay.

The 2 that I bought on Ebay aren't included there. But both are by The Band. "Northern Lights-Southern Cross" and "The Last Waltz" got em for $2.99 plus S&H

I have several hundred of 'em scattered about, but I've been trying to
unload them all. All of the ones I wanted to save I converted to mp3s
and keep on an archived drive.

He's workin on a new album ya know! So far I've heard that Eric Clapton ,Steve Winwood and the Kings of Leon have played on it

To Mike: My brothers thinking about getting a converter so I'll convert mine. I just like the sound of the vinyl better and I also like knowing I listen to what other kids my age (13 , almost 14) normally don't.

To Fenderseeker09: I think its worth it if theirs a guy like the one I buy mine from nearby.......It's interesting looking through and the feeling you get when you find a album by your favorite band........Saturday was such a great day for me when I was searching through

I may make this into a new hobby yet-collecting albums on the old vinyl. It'd be neat! 8)

Congratulations on your new adventure in music; it is a wonderful way of listening to new(old) stuff and expanding your musical horizons; what's good about records is lack of compression at the top and bottom ends. NICE CHOICES BY THE WAY. I have approx 500-600, including a bunch of Zeppelin and Hendrix bootlegs and imports, and just about all the albums I've bought when I was a bit younger  I was in NYC this weekend and stopped at Bleeker Bob's in the Village...bought Chunga's Revenge by Zappa, Volunteers and Surrealistic Pillow by the Airplane, the self-titled Psychedelic Furs, an original cover Some Girls by the Stones, and the owner threw in Projections by the Blues Project. As long as you have a good turntable, you'll realize that it is a never ending quest...like GAS but with albums...

then once you have amassed (and that is what it is!!!) a nice collection, you are going to have to get album frames so you can display the covers, which is a huge joy :D
Top Row left to right
Original cover Blind Faith, Sgt. Pepper/ original wiggly cover of Her Satanic Majesty's Request, Cheap Thrills cover by R. Crumb for Big Brother and the Holding Company
Bottom Row: London Calling, The Who Sell Out

Cool to see that vinyl is making a comeback! I think its true records have a certain warmth that's lacking in CDs and MP3s. There also seems to be mounting evidence that vinyl is more durable and longer lasting than compact disks.

Hopefully a resurgence in LPs will mean a resurgence in great album cover art!

Last year my friends grandmother died and while I was helping him clean out her house we found a stack of records. He was going to throw them away so I went through them. Lots of Chet Atkins and Duane Eddy and a few others that I had never heard of. He let me keep them for helping him clean out the house! Since then I have been searching yard sales and flea markets for old vinyl. It's so much fun collecting them. Just last Saturday I bought 18 albums for 25 cents each!
