You guys have almost talked me into buying a Gibson LP!! 8) STOP!!!!! please! Who wants to buy a MIA ash Deluxe Strat?
Just get and LP fhop My Custom Plus Epi only cost me 800.00 back in 04' and it screaming fun to play.

I'm most likely to just stay in the Fender family. Gibbys look nice but the few I've tried I really did not like the feel. You know how it goes, no matter what you have you want something else to add to it! Problem is I'm broke like our country!

Seems thats is a common problem. Since I have been layed off my side work has even been going down. I picked up three amps to work on and thats it, other then that I have had nothing else in the 5 or 6 days.

Sounds like perfect balance to me, Mr. Hopkins. Snap a picture so we can all see how it is to get all the good stuff!!!

Incidentally.....Can somebody tell me what "G.A.S." stands for?

I can snap you a pic in the morning with all but the LP.
GAS? I always call it Guitar Acquisition Syndrome and some call it Gear instead of Guitar.

IMO, it's not the guitar.

60% of that tone is the amp. Another 35% is the player's quite impressive picking technique and flawless left hand.

I submit that the player on that video could get that tone with any humbucking guitar into that amp. hell, maybe he doesn't even need the amp... I know a guy from another forum with the best picking you ever heard, who routinely posted audio of himself playing over jam tracks that would blow the room away in terms of tone... and when asked which of his vintage tweeds or blackface amps he used, he would say, "Oh, i was in a hurry, I just plugged into a J-Station."

It's not the arrow, but the archer who aims.

I think you should. Provided you know what you're looking for.

It is widely claimed that there are considerably more '50s Les Pauls in the world today than Gibson ever made in that decade, especially '59s. People with the skills of the big maker's master builders would have no difficulty replicating all the aged features shown in those photos, and there are less scrupulous folks out there who indeed do so.

I haven't the faintest idea how to tell a real one from a fake - I'd love to know! Luckily, my bank balance means it is entirely notional... :(

Happy shopping!

Cheers - C

That was sonic heaven. It just does not get better than that. The only thing is if I was ever fortunate enough to get an ax like that I would prefer a two pickup model as I dont care for the 3 pick up models. If you really like that you can get the Frampton 3 pup model for 3 grand,

If you did, you'd know that your archer example actually is a perfect argument against your point....

Trying to quantify a metaphor is very bad logic, and is trying to compare target shooting to playing the guitar. ... as if the point of musicianship was to hit a bullseye.

Here's the reason you and I will never agree on this:

You want to talk about materials, and I want to talk about making music.
