Cool pictures. Thanks for sharing.8) I like the guitar shot in front of the city-scape. It could make a good ad..."Fender Guitars...An American Institution" and have shots from various cities.

Thanks guys. :D I have some sound clips with the Squier Strat and the Deluxe VM on pure volume. Well, actually Texas Flood was with a Peavey Classic 50 and a Super Overdrive (both borrowed), but Hide Away is with nothing but the Strat and the Deluxe VM. It was pretty much the first time the drummer ever heard the song, so don't judge him on it.

That guitar is my Michael Kelly Valor Limited. It's a really awesome guitar that I use for that PRS-type sound. Way cheaper, and I think it sounds about as good. I was playing through a Boss Metal Zone (which I have since sold to buy my Overdrive pedal) and my Peavey Classic 30. I knew at least half of all Kutless' songs at one point. The only thing about playing blues is that I don't have as many groupies as I used to, guys my age like hard rock and metal. Oh well, that's not why I play guitar.

TGS, WOW  I didn't know what to expect but you did a great job...I loved Texas Flood. I can see you are serious about your Blues...Your bends and doublets were great. I could feel the raw emotion of the song. That recording just proves that tone is in the fingers not the instrument. Who'd a thunk a Squire and a Classic 30?

Aside: Brad we need some clapping emoticons around here...

Here are some pictures from my trip to Austin last week. There are a few of when I met Jimmie Vaughan and a few others from various places we went, including a really great one of my guitar and the Austin Skyline. I'm really proud of myself for that picture.

TGS, don't worry yourself with those young fools. Girls mature in thier thinking a lot sooner than boys. I imagine that Tal Wilkenfeld had the same thing happen to her. Look at her now! They don't know what they are missing out on! Keep playing the Blues!! 8)

Hey Texas-

Thank you for sharing- Great tone and nice personal touch to "Texas Flood" You made it your own.

Just Curious....How did you get to meet JV? That must have been great.

That Texas Flood was recorded about six months ago, I actually think I can play it a little better now. In fact, that was the first time I ever played a blues song in public and it was only a couple of months after I heard Texas Flood for the first time. I've been working especially hard on my vibrato, it didn't sound right back then.

Oh, and that's not me singing. That's my friend Jordan. I can't sing. I was leading the band playing Texas Flood at Antone's last week and I had to get someone else to sing it for me. Someone in the audience noticed that I couldn't sing and told me that she knew SRV when he was about my age, and apparently he couldn't sing back then either. Gotta love the people you run across in Austin. :D So I guess I ought to learn, so I don't have to get pushed around by singers anymore. :P

My Squier has Texas Specials in it... So that $200 upgrade probably has something to do with the tone...

I was at the National Guitar Workshop in Austin and they have a guest artist every year. This year was my first year there and they had Jimmie Vaughan come and do a show and talk to us about everything from his influences to how he learned guitar. We could just raise our hands and ask him any question we wanted or request a song. It was a fairly small venue too, there were only about 100-200 people there.
I was in the front row in the very center, because my Dad helped them load in and he also helped the sound guy during sound check so he earned it. 8)

There was a meet and greet after that, and so I grabbed my guitar and waited at the end of the line. If you push your way to the front of the line it gets really crowded and you don't have time to talk. When I got up there I thanked him for being one of the very first people who turned me on to blues and asked him to sign my guitar. :)
