So, if you could design your idea jam space, what would it look like? Carpets vs. Hardwood floor? Drum kit on a riser? Track lighting? Chairs/couch for friends who stop by to listen? PA board close by so you could tweak and fiddle to get the sound right? Would you choose bottles, cans or a keg? Keep it/them in the same room as the band so ti is easier to get a cold one between songs? Would the room have some sort of 'theme' (other than... well.. .it being a jam space)?

I would decorate mine somewhat like the 'house of blues' clubs. And the mini fridge would be within easy reach of the guitar rig.

I would have it big enough to do private performances for family and friends but also just small enough that i could record and not get too much room reverb or echo in the mix. The Drums would be behind a crash wall between the stacks. The remaining space would be filled with chairs and couches for everone to sit on. Then again when i jam it's in my room or outside and i'm by myself.

Okay, now I'm ready. I wanted to sketch some ideas down first (really I did...does that make me odd?)...

First, I would have two Fender Custom Shop barstools placed in front of a bar table. The table would have a glass top with an array of guitar photos under it to make it unique. I would have two mini-fridges behind the counter...one exclusively for Snapple...one ofr snacks and the like. There would be a chair or stool behind the counter and a Plasma screen TV above the counter for viewing concert DVDs etc.

On the next wall would be all of my guitars.

My next wall housed between two corner storage cases would be my "Beginnings Wall"...with just my first guitar and first amp with my invoice in a frame for that rock star memorabilia feel.

On the next wall would be my amps and effects I collect over the years.
Finally I would have a giant braided rug in the middle and I would drag that days choice of equipment to the center so I could play my heart out!

Nice! I like the idea of a TV onthe wall. While you're getting equipment ready or just chillaxin', you can throw a Stevie Ray concert vid up...

Exactly! Once I put pen to paper the ideas flowed. I wish I could build this ASAP. If I win the lottery I'm ripping this page out of my sketchbook and buying some serious guitar cave gear! 8)

Well, I hope to have my own space some day (The reality is not any time soon, though) and i want to be prepared! I'm keeping a pad and jotting down ideas as they come to me b/c when I do finally move to a bigger house, I want to be ready to Rock n Roll ASAP!

Track lighting on a dimmer switch is key, BTW. Rock n Roll is best done in poor lighting. And I look better that way.
