Well, my spouse gave the okay and I finally got a Blues Junior last Saturday and I've been giving it a workout.

It's the black and silver standard Blues Junior. I like these colors because like the Tai Chi of Chinese ancient philophers, they represent a balance between the forces of yin and yang. Mainly, they look cool. It's a classic Fender look. Maybe it doesn't look so big surrounded by Devilles and Supersonics at a Guitar Center, but although it's light weight it is a meaty looking little combo. Sweet looks that are better than I thought until I got it home.

Cabinet is solid. All parts are solid.

I got one new in the box to avoid all the abuse the floor models take. Tried it in the store to make sure the reverb works and everything sounded good. People are stopping. People are staring. "Wow that sounds really good." I turned the balance knobs to something along the lines of what I saw here from CA Feathers and others, and then cranked the reverb before then backing off the reverb. Makes it sing.

Turned it on and let it warm up. The tubes light up in back with a kind of golden glow. The tones are more golden than that.

For blues at low volume, I upped the volume, the bass and the mid, setting treble about middle, and hit the fat switch. Amazing. Beautiful. Sweet. I don't have the words. The guitar can go from 4 to 10 for a fatter to a sharper sound, and have great variety of tone. Neck-mid is sweet, and bridge-mid is sharp.

For vintage sounding worship-type music using a lot of arpeggios on open chords, up the treble, the bass and the mid, cut the fat switch, roll back the volume to about the middle, set reverb to about 8. Set the guitar tones on 10 for more treble. Playing songs for example heavy on an open d-minor and some arpeggio type riffs within it, the sound is so sweet that it will break your heart.

If you want some super gain stuff, max volume. Major overdrive even at low loudness.

All of this can be done without waking up the neighbors or annoying the cops. This amp is night and day from the solid state stuff I have been using for many years.

If you've been suffering with solid state, you owe it to yourself to get a Blues Junior. So far, everything works great with hours of playing on it. The build quality is solid. Everything is just right.

I am in awe of the tones that come out of this little amp, and I am shocked than they're coming off my fingers. It's one tremendous little musical instrument when paired up with my Highway One Strat.

"Get home"

That's a typo, not a secret message. I don't know how that got to the end of the message. Some kind of gremlins in this thing, or in my part that tries to say things. All the stuff about the tubes lighting up and the settings were after I got home and that's supposed to be up there.

Very nice report. It echos what many say about the Blues Jr.

I've gotten a lot of GAS for one myself. I will have to try and make it a holiday present for myself, unless I can convince my daughter to give me one.
