I'm a wah fanatic of all sorts, but I think Hendrix's use of the wah is great almost whenever he used it. I think Voodoo Child (Slight Return) takes the cake for me. Just so classic and memorable.

The Meters had a guitarist [Leo Nocentelli] that knew how to use the Wah. Two songs in particular: "Just Kissed My Baby", and "Here Comes the Meterman". The former uses wah in the main "rhythm" that repeats over and over, the latter has one of the coolest damn wah solos I've ever heard. Both are excelent choices for study.

"Bad Horsie" by Steve Vai should be right up there too along with the previous mentioned ones by others.

Surprised no one mentioned George Harrison's "Wah-wah" off of "All things must pass" !!

I think Frank Zappa was the master of the wah wah. Alex Lifeson did some tasty things with it in the early days also. His solo on Cinderella Man comes to mind and of course the Spirit of Radio. But Frank used it in such unique ways and was really able to control his tone with it. He didn't just use it for an effect.

"Papa Was A Rollin' Stone" puts everything else in the shade.

What would you say is your favorite song that has a Wah-Wah introduction (or any part, if that would be your favorite)? Post links, if you can, I wanna hear some.

For me, it HAS to be Voodoo Child (Slight Return).

Voodoo Chile by either JMH or SRV-both are great!
