Being at home, retired/disabled gets a little boring and humdrum at times. I have gotten to a point in my music where I'm stuck, nothing seems right. So today I enrolled at the local Community College for some back to the basics, start my stuck fanny over and get rid of some bad habits and refresh some things I have forgot music classes. I know some of the stuff is going to seem very lame to me, but I think I need it.

I'm taking:

Music Fundamentals
Beginning Voice I
Beginning Guitar

That's a great thing to do Chet. I ought to do something like that myself. Good luck and study hard! :)

Good on ya', starting over can smooth out the rough spots and add to what you already know.
Enjoy yourself,

Here is what is says about that class:

"Presents the principles and techniques of fundamental guitar performance. The course stresses first position techniques, note reading, scales, fingerboard knowledge, chord positions, picking and strum techniques, and performance of selected musical literature appropriate to the beginning level."

Sounds good. I am self taught and would love to shake some bad habbits, I think.

I'm self taught also. I have plenty of bad habits, some of them are guitar related. :?

I did the same thing, though I wasn't retired. I had been 'self taught' and decided I wanted to learn some theory, and shake bad habits. It was such a good experience I ended up auditioning and then enrolling in their music program and going full time. i worked nights back then so it was easy to do.

Hey, really cool.

I would like to take a college theory class, but alas, I need to graduate from high school first. :]

Thanks Guys! I have thought about doing this several times over the past few years and never acted upon it. This time I did and to tell you the truth I'm quite excited (and a little nervous) about it. Classes start Aug. 19 and run through Dec. 18. My family and friends are quite surprised and very supportive of my wanting to do this.
