Hello Mr Wally,

I really like Metallica, but what's up with this? I still would take one if I was offered it for free.

I know I'll catch a lot of grief for saying this but I really don't see what is so appealing about the so called Black One. I think it's unappealing. All scratched up and gold hardware. Reminds me of gold rims on a beat up car. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I hope all that love it gets it. Please don't take my opinion personal. :? Maybe I would like a NOS model.

I have that guitar, and from my understanding james hetfield took his gibson les paul and added layers of paint, and then started to sand away the finish...since he is under contract by esp they reproduced all of his style markings. Same with the George ltd strat copy...i personally love esp's there a great guitar company.

Yeah they are nice playing guitars, just do not like the paint job on this particular one. Again I would not say no if someone offered me one.

Here is my idea of an overdone relic job. Sorry Fender.

I mean at what point does a guitar go from being a well played relic to being totally abused. :?

You think that one's bad?
take a look at this one:
http://www.themusiczoo.com/fendercustom ... 46133.html

It's just too reliced.

Wow, that is way too much abuse.
And the prices these things are fetching are unreal.

To get your guitar to look like those one would have to put it on a rope and drag it behind the car for a few miles. Not normal wear.

I can get into a little relic action (Think Fender Road Worn Olympic White: $940)...but the ones posted are over the top and prices are nearly 3-4 times what I paid for my new american std. If I'm going to spend that much money on anything it should look mint.
