I do my own setups and string replacements. I've learned a lot from the good folks here at the forum and the net. I got tired of the guys at the local shop charging 25 bucks everytime I walk through the front door. If I had a major problem I wouldn't hesitate taken it in for sure.

Yes...I just got done doing a pickup swap earlier in the week...never got a chance to plug it in until yesterday...pickups in the middle position sounded thin...out of phase issues solved in less than 5 minutes...who knows how much and how long a tech would have taken and charged to desolder and resolder 2 wires...

Apparently my Eric Clapton strat got a set-up from the custom shop just before i took delivery of it, so I am really hesitant to change anything (I don't want anything to change either - I love it the way it is) but like anything else, someday I will have to fix something. I plan on learning to do the set-up stuff myself.

I did some basic set-up on my friends Carvin when he decided to pull it out after years of storage. I really enjoyed that, but yes, Floyd Rose tremelos are a pain.

I do my own setup too ... everything, even Floyd Rose on the ESP. I find it very satisfying and relaxing too. Just bought a new 30W soldering iron and Seymour Duncan Little '59 neck PU :) More tweaking this weekend - lol!
