A few days ago I had some time to kill so I went pawn shopping.

I came across a Peavey Foundation bass in pearl white, with a maple neck. It's a smidge beat up cosmetically, had a sticker I needed to remove, and was missing a string. It played fine, though the pots need a spot of magic spray, and I need a strap flange thingy for the screw at the bottom of the instrument.

Anyhow, my daughter turns 16 in about 8 days. She has taught herself to play bass with a very small amount of help from me to get her started. She has been borrowing my basses to learn on, mainly my MIJ Squier P-bass. So her first bass will be this USA-made Foundation, which I went back and bought the following morning, after asking her if she would like her own bass for her birthday present.

I know, it didn't happen without pics.

So, first, here's the eventual recipient of the bass (and me):

The bass is here at the office and I couldn't find a camera last night, so you'll have to be content with these pics I found on the interweb, that look just like the one I bought:

Here is even a pic of a bald guy from Russia playing one:

Thanks. I think she will. Peavey USA from the '80's and '90's is great stuff and criminally undervalued on the used market.

There was no case or bag, but for $99 out the door I'm not complaining!

Ahh the Peavey Foundation....I had a red one with a RW fretboard about 15 years ago (fond memories of the old garage band :) ). It was a fine playing instrument that I finally handed down to a friend who was itching to learn. It's a great bass for a beginner!
