Are there any guitar players that also play bass? I was thinking about buying one. Believe it or not I spent 20 some odd years playing guitar, but never bought a bass. Is there anything I need to know other than the obvious?

I am looking for a budget bass and amp, nothing big. $200 to $350 price range for the Bass, $100 to $200 for the amp. I have been looking at the Squier line up for the Bass (Vintage Modified Jazz), but not sure about the amp.

I used to play around on a friends P-Bass years ago. It seemed pretty natural to me after playing guitar for a few years.

I play both, in various bands. I love the differences between them. Most guitar players think they can play bass, but just play some little runs and have no idea how to keep a solid steady bass groove.

I like guitar a little more, but I do love playing some cool bass.

i started as a bass player for a yr back in the mid 90's but quickly switched because i loved the feel of the guitar over a long bass lol...but i love both instruments.

Mostly what I want to do is tinker and see if it is something I want to get into. I messed around with a friend of mine's bass back in the late 80's and thought it was cool, and easy to learn.

Plus I am thinking about doing some recording, it would be cool if I could take a bass track of me and slide in some guitar work with it. Too bad I cannot play drums, then I could be a one person band.

I play both... I started on guitar first. When I got into home recording, I borrowed my cousin's SG bass. He was a drummer, but he tried to learn bass. Years later, when he decided to retire from music I asked him if he still had it, but he had sold it already.

I have an Ibanez that's 20 years old now... I bought that when I decided to play in a band that my friends started. It was there I learned to play it right. The drummer and I were pretty tight...

When I finally had to quit the band, I lost those friends...
