New guitar....It's a Gretsch G5120. I wound up trading my old Epiphone Les Paul Custom for it, and I couldn't be happier! It plays exceptionally well, and is a great complement for my Telecaster...

Hey Vulkan that is a sweet looking Gretsch. I'm sorry to say that i've never had the pleasure of trying one.

Great guitar Vulkan, I've had mine for about 6 months and still love it!
I have been thinking about putting some TV Jones pups on...
Good Luck
Bill

That is a killer looking guitar. Could you take a closer picture? I can't see it very well because of how glossy it is.

Hey Vulkan enjoy. I have a 5122 that I play occasionally, mostly jazz (or my attempts at jazz  ). They are well made guitars. Stick with flat wounds on string replacements it brings out the best tone on those guitars. The floating bridge can be a pain when you change strings just change one at a time to avoid having to reintonate. It's a pain.

I've already changed strings to my standard EB .11s, and had no trouble with the bridge. All I did was adjust it a bit after I'd put the new strings on for intonation, and I was ready to rock. I've heard people whinge about these guitars because "the bridge moves when I hit it" or some such bull, but I've experience nothing of the sort and I play hard!

As for flatwounds, I don't know if they'll be up my alley. I'm using this guitar to play rock, blues and country, and I love the sound of it through my rig with the .11s. The .09s that came on it made it sound weird: big, yet tinny.

Thanks for the advice though! I'm debuting it at my band's gig on Tuesday, but I'll try and get some more pics of it up sooner than that....
