:D Hi guys, I recently purchased a 2005 american strat with sunburst and maple neck. I am only an intermediate guitarist with mainly accoustic playing experience, however am working very hard to learn electric in particular the style of David Gilmour. Anyway I have noticed that when I use the tremlo there appears to be what sounds like a string pinching. I have checked all over the bridge and can't seem to locate the problem. I am thinking that maybe the string post on the headstock maybe the cause. Have any of you guys and gals ever encountered this problem. If so, I am considering purchasing a set of sperzel machine heads which do away with the need for the string post. Thoughts anyone??

Check and make sure there isn't any build up in the slots of the nut. You also may want to put some graphite in the slots after cleaning them out. Nice and simple to just us a mechanical pencil.

Chances are, the above will solve your problem. And if you're gravitating towards Gilmour's stylings, unless it's a personal preference thing on your part, the whole Sperzel setup is unnecessary.
