This morning at 11:30, Dina went to Doggie Heaven...she is no longer suffering. My ex flew down from Connecticut to be with her these last few days; we all said goodbye to our sweet, sweet, Dina, and I held her and kissed the top of her head as the vet did the injections. After she was gone, I held her a bit more and then let her fly.

Sorry about your pet. Losing a pet is losing a loved one.

I'm very sorry for the sorrow you're feeling. But, just know that she's free of pain and suffering now, and you'll get to see her again some day. Then you can both be reunited. She'll always be with you--not in physical form, but always in spirit. You'll never lose that. ♥♥♥

I am terribly sorry for your loss. I lost my buddy a little over a month ago and the first couple of weeks were really tough. Hang in there, time is the healer.

It is really hard in the beginning; it doesn't seem real yet..I used to come home from work and there she was wagging that big tail of hers, licking and pushing herself into me, just trying to get as close as possible. We used to say that her tail was a lethal weapon because she wagged it so hard.

There was a book in the vet's office by Cynthia Rylant, a wonderful author. It was called Doggie Heaven...I could barely get through it because it's so true. She talks about how the first thing they do is run through these large fields. There are all kinds of treats and toys, and there are children, angel children because all dogs love children. If you get a chance to see it in a book store, read it, but make sure you have some tissues with you, especially if you've lost a pet.

Thanks for the heartfelt thoughts.
Serge

Image I know what you're going through. This was my little buddy of 16 years who passed last year. I sorely miss him.

Condolences.

When our big, black Scottie went on to the next realm six years ago, not only did we get another of the breed, but a big black bass was named after him. His ashes are in the music room.

So it is still possible to open a case and cuddle and play with Angus.

Sorry to hear of your loss Serge, I know how you feel my friend. I lost my buddy Smokey about 10 years ago, he was a huge loss in my life. Not a day went by, I didn't think of him. In time though, things got better. I now have another springer, his name is Charlie. He reminds me a lot of Smokey, but this boy is a character in his own right. I can't remember who sent me the poem Rainbow Bridge, but I'm going to link it here for you. Your Dina is in a better place now, pain free.

We've shared these moments before, and it pleases me to know the level of support that is generated by the membership, not only for others in their personal battles, but for a creature as selfless as a Dina or a Buddy. You can give further meaning to Dina's life by giving a rescue a loving and protective home. It's obviously within you to do so. You will both gain in full measure by such a gesture.

Keep us posted.

Doc
