For that price I would re-string it and play it upside down like Jimi. Wish it was closer to me.

Oh. Sorry. I thought you had bought it. It was a killer price. As I am not a lefty either, I could not do anything with it, except re-sale it or use it as a trade in.

You know.. I think it's a descent price. But I gotta tell you, I saw a 1993 MIM Sunburst Strat in a Pawn shop for the same price in great condition. But when I played it, it had a fatter C shape neck than I'm used to. It actually turned me off to it. It also felt like it was a lighter weight and softer maple neck than what I would expect with a Strat. It felt more like a Squier Affinity neck with better fretwork.

So oddly enough.. I ended up buying a 1994 Hamer Slammer for $80. It had more of a rock solid feel to it. The body has some serious weight, great finish, a neck like a HM (exact same specs).. I don't know man, every dog has it's day and the Hamer beat the Strat on this day. I swapped pickguards from my Squier, and Damn man, this Hamer screams. It just has better craftsmanship. Smooth as silk, and can take some punishment. Not a big fan of the headstock, but who cares, this thing plays like a dream.

I'm working on making it all black hardware (bridge and jack plate is all that's left to do).

I wouldn't buy into anything without trying it out first. Had I run across these 2 guitars in ads, I would have bit on the Strat. Even though the Strat would be a better investment, I don't give a s**t. I'm all about keeping myself honest and open minded when it comes to craftsmanship, and the Hamer won this battle. It's amazing what you run across sometimes.

I have bought a bunch of guitars on ebay and saved a fortune doing so. For some reason I have never had success with craigs list I have never even went to see an ax from there and yet my friend found 3 great deals. Besides most of the guitars I have found and liked were to far away. Is there any other sites like ebay and craigs list on the net.

The pawn shops here in Vegas rule both websites. In the past couple of weeks I've bought a Squier and Hamer both equipped with Duncan and Dimarzio pickups. I paid $130 altogether. So besides the guitars themselves, I walked away with 2- SD Jb Jr.'s, 1-SD Duckbucker, and a Dimarzio HS-3.

If you know your stuff, pawn shops are killer. When they price guitars, they only price based on the brand they see having no clue what parts are on them.

It's been a good couple of weeks for me so far. Let's see if I can have a good month. :D At this pace, I'll be able to buy a whole new guitar just by selling pickups.
