I admit I haven't watched every single vid in this thread, but I doubt this is replicating anything already posted.

This guy's about as close to "the real thing" as it gets in my book. JJ Cale on the Jools Holland show (thank me for sparing you another clip with Jools' execrable interview technique):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPMEWO7wXwY&NR=1

JJ Cale gave one of the best live shows I've ever seen - one steamy summer's evening in Boston, early '90s. Ahhhhh...

Check out his right hand style, by the way.

Cheers - C

Tone is in the fingers! Good one, Ceri. No plectrums required.

I was searching for something else, but came across this one and felt worthy of posting...what a technique!

O

That's a picture of my mouth hanging open in wonder! I was laughing out loud in bewilderment at some of that - no need to practice: never get close!

I have an idea Mr Bill would like that one too, if I understand his tastes.

Thank you, Mike: that made my day!

Up until about three years ago I had only heard about Tommy, but never heard or saw him play.

He's amazing.

Great choice - Roy's noise is always cool to hear!

This one is a jazzy Brian Setzer lesson :

Carolyn Wonderland.

I knew I was going to put one of hers on here, but I couldn't decide which one. If you're at all into this kind of music try to make one of her shows. It's incredible. She does Wind Cries Mary on a mando, makes an LP cry on Johnny Winters' Still Alive and Well, does a killer whistle solo on I'm The Man, plays slide on Miss Understood, and sometimes brings out an accordion and/or trumpet. It's an awesome show all around.

Yet somehow she's relatively unknown outside (and even inside) of the Austin-Houston, TX corridor and Amsterdam where they have Wonderjam on the week of her birthday.

She's terrific!

Staying with that same theme of women with guitars, here's Ana Popovic :

Good choice!

I owned one of those small blue BR Strats several years ago. I wish that I held on to it now. Oh well, live and learn.

Burton Cummings is one of my favorite singer/songwriters. One of the most underated singers in rock IMO. He also is a good musician and plays keys, guitar and drums quite well.

Here's a clip that I like from the Bachman-Cummings Band :
