Nice playing and tone. I wonder what those 2 holes and the white spot south of the bridge are from.

Perhaps just marks from being "road worn" with a few falls and tip overs.

Uh, you never saw my Elvis impressions. Silver Presley shades and all. I did the songs, and my buddy did the lip. Had I gotten the lip down pat Elvis woulda been in the audience learnin’ the moves, and catching the scarf. Hahaha.

Naw, just kidding. I did do the impressions, but he was and is the King. The sampling in today’s music helps to seal that. 8)
Thanks for the links, Mike.

Thank yew. Thank yew vewy much.

There are many impersonators, done better, some worse; but, because we had the luck of seeing in a small night club in Winnipeg this highest paid Tribute artist (he didn’t care to be called an impersonator) of the time, managed by Dick Clark, credited with one of if not the first full show, and because I have a 45rpm with his work, I give you a name you’ll want to know and remember if you are an Elvis fan.

Alan Meyer:

Very good tribute to Elvis, Gary. I had never heard of Alan Meyer before. Thanks for the video. 8)

You’re welcome, Marky. I hadn’t heard of him either when I frequented a local club that brought retro acts and legends to town.

I happened to show up one night with Mrs. FSB where we used to date, and Alan was there that night. Again, questionably, not the closest vocal tone, but really good and his show and audience interplay was outstanding, something that others lack. He certainly took it up a notch.

I just watched the Comeback Special last night. What an amazing show!

Too bad things went downhill after that.

I often wonder how music would have evolved had these legends like Elvis stayed with us longer.

Would they have taken music down a different path? Perhaps. Certainly not all had the ability to do that. Some of these were songwriters (as Elvis was), some producers, some were simply performers or methodical musicians. Trending musical direction was often left to others like Elvis’ songwriters (and those like them):

http://www.elvis-history-blog.com/elvis ... iters.html

This shows, in part, how music trends are strongly influenced by the industry responsible for distribution.

To say that every generation wants to place a stamp of their own on the package is putting it mildly. The Internet has changed the delivery, and still packages may carry something great. There is a lot of junk delivered today as there always has been.

I’ll briefly say that public appeal follows trends some being social issues, fashion, and, most often, youth. It creates a vibe and memories. Charisma trends today and Elvis had it and lost it. or did he? Let’s just say the red carpet has their pop, hip hop, and rap stars where charisma still works today. For as long as Elvis? Doubtful.

That’s where promotion kicks in. Whether it’s Phil Spector, Colonel Tom Parker, Dick Clark, music geniuses like Sam Phillips, Chet Atkins. Berry Gordy and Quincy Jones, the music industry, the media stations, and others, today’s online resources have altered the game.

True, names like The Beatles, Wonder, Dylan, Bowie, and others managed to not only change with the times, they also had some bearing in changing the course of Rock; although, the same can be said for Indie and garage bands.
So, that said, would Elvis have changed music’s evolving direction? I doubt it. Would Buddy Holly? I think that would have been more likely.

Nevertheless. music legends like Elvis, Janis, Jim Morrison, Croce, James Brown, Aretha, and others past and present will always be rock royalty. IMHO.

I prefer to say in Rock terms Elvis Presley is the King. Always was and always will be. Ask the superstars of Rock and Roll, and you’ll find a consensus.

Sad that the demons got the best of him.
