Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Have Yourself A Very Merry Christmas by the Pretenders is a beautiful version, Mike. Thanks, for that beauty.

Tommy was a good laugh, Marky. I really enjoyed that. I’ve been playing these radio hits for years having cut my teeth with those guitar oldies. I sure don’t sound like Tommy, Hank, or Chet, even though I’ve always had a thumb pick and a capo; but, it’s always great hearing how it’s supposed to be done. The only satisfaction I get from years of playing those songs is knowing that no one else sounds like me either. Eat your heart out, Tommy.

I think I found the answer to my playing problem. Not enough strings:

Here’s a lesson to dispel the idea of using drugs (or copious amounts of alcohol) before a performance or a recording:

. . . and that’s how much of the greatest music was made contrary to popular belief.

Gary, that's a lot of strings  Mike that vocal group is great. Here is the group I would like them to duet with Gary, just say no unless you are under a very good doctor's supervision

That’s always a good plan, Rollie. I wouldn’t have wanted Elvis’ or Michael’s doc, though. Home Free nailed that harmony, Mike. Except for the purity, you’d think they were using a stomp box. Holey shades of Statlers and Oakridge boys. Nice!

All Angels sing divine. My first thought was, “This has to be Simon Cowell’s group”. After looking it up it would seem so, and if it’s one thing he has a knack for it’s picking winners in this sub-genre. Simon’s not unlike the Grammy producer from my old home - David Foster. David uses an age old formula that works for him, not always for me. Take a great natural singer and add reverb. Pretty easy to tell his productions, at times. At least Simon doesn’t over produce, uses a lot of natural acoustics, and he generally lets the talent shine like these Angels.

Thanks for posting these ladies, SBLS.

A little Canuck Accapella:

Glad you enjoyed the Nylons, Mud, and the Real Group were really good, ghost_of_strings.

And now I bring you a group well known and, perhaps, one of the most covered harmony vocal groups ever. Story has it that the originator (Tim Hauser) was said to have been turned down with his singing skills, and he vowed to form the best vocal group in return. The rest is history.

Manhattan Transfer has changed over the years and here they are with a Frank Paperelli & Dizzy Gillespie tune. Bobbie McFerrin and Jon Hendricks join them.

Enjoy.

. . . and today I admire Pentatonix:

Excellent, Ghost.

Here in Winnipeg a little different Accapella. Traditional Inuit throat singing.

Walking The Dog: Nice, Mike.

Here we have Quebecer Steve Hill who played alongside names like Guy, Charles, Vaughan, King, and alike.
