Okay, Star Wars Fans. This is why you need vinyl and a turntable:

Great videos, Mike and FSB. I loved Johnny Carson's Tonight Show and that was a funny video. I saw the first Star Wars movie on opening night in May of '77. There was no line to get in. A few days later, the line was half-way around the block. I've been a Star Wars fan ever since and that's a very cool album, FSB. If I still had a turntable, I'd buy it. May the Force be with you too. 8)

I’m watching developers coming up with apps. At times I think developers are keen to have us trained to believe and to accept software or bloat that we could replace with something more meaningful. After viewing over 100 assumed improvements, I’m warm to iOS 12, Mike; but, I’m not doing cartwheels. YMMV.

The following is neither an endorsement nor disdain for the company or it’s hardware, but more a heads up and observation to software management, mostly how it does or doesn’t relate to music recording and/or playback. Like others, I use my cell for the odd instrument recording and videos as well as my Walkman per se. Sometimes I use it as a phone.
I needed a new phone as my better half didn’t have one at all, shared mine, and she will get my new one maybe sooner than later. I picked up an iPhone X. Pretty good, definitely better, but like all phones it has shortcomings (especially for the price).

We have a 5s that runs most of the features as the iPhone X does (thanks to the same OS updates after all these years) and that’s good. The 5s and Mrs. FSB’s newer iPad work with the latest iTunes (before the current version) in the desktop PC. The X does not! Without the availability of iPhone USB or memory cards by design I’ll have to upgrade the PC before I can install/upgrade to the current iTunes so I can make audio and video transfers to and from the PC with the X; even so, until I discover the cause I may mess up the existing iTunes/5s/iPad connections that I have now just to satisfy the X. :? New or old iTunes with the PC and the three Apples, I expect will be a problem. Maybe not.

The iPhone X has 4K video recording but mono audio recording with the internal mic? Still no stereo onboard mic’s? Personally, I like binaural and surround sound, but I’ll settle for stereo. C’mon Apple . . . get with the program. iOS 12 won’t fix the iTunes incompatability or stereo recording problem. Instead we’ll get more Animojis.
No need to suggest Android. That’s in the house too. I’ll add that old saying, “Nice, but no cookie”. :P
Bells and whistles are cool. Even I like them. However, most of all, I just prefer it to work, and maybe it’s just me, but didn’t we used to have cellphones that sounded better? Perhaps, to design the case for better software sound, compromises for phone quality had to be made? Could be my aged hearing or memory or both.

As for Apple’s no headphone jack, it’s just okay. Imagine having a costly no phone jack phone. I do. What if it’s decided later to go back to the jack, to stop making lightning EarPods, and to stop supplying the dongle. Wireless Bluetooth won’t help in all circumstances. Especially with outboard audio and video gear.
I used to get OS updates on my 5s that had nothing to do with the 5s. They were for the X. This time with the X I’ll be getting iOS 12 that will find a home with the new phone.
Anyhow, with all the offerings that iOS 12 has to offer there are plenty of good features to enjoy for sure, Mike. Enjoy.

Anyone considering a phone upgrade, beware of the new fakes as they even come with facial recognition:

Apple released iTunes 12.9 for Windows and other platforms adding support for iOS 12.

Unfortunately the Mac version is not yet available.

macOS Mojave - the last OS supporting 32-bit legacy apps - will become publicly offered through the App Store next week. The new operating system will bring a dark mode affecting the whole UI, a feature already present on Windows 10.

Starting with macOS 10.15 Apple will definitely kill 32-bit apps, rendering many Microsoft desktop sets useless since M$ Desktop drivers use legacy components.

I've plans to perform a clean install of Mojave next week but feel worried about investing money to buy a new desktop set for my Mac mini since Microsoft Desktop drivers are 32-bit and M$ had no plans to update the bundle.

Sounds like you're fighting to stay with apple while MS has what you need.
