Loggins & Messina. Enjoyed that, Mike.

Some years back I was working on a show in the studios when a religious group brought a guest duo from just outside the city to the station. Two brothers. They blew us away right from the beginning. They had that L&M vibe both with playing and vocals, and they really were that good. The trouble is I tried to get them to go forward and to move further with their musical interest by suggesting they go see some connected friends and associates of mine who had built a well respected multitrack studio that later sold their Neve consoles to AC/DC’s road crew.

Sadly, like others we know, these brothers were content in their lives to not pursue fame and fortune, while others less talented chase their dream which is worthy, but difficult at best.

We talked about how often the public loses out that which could be interpreted as an obligation for the talent to share the gift given. Thankfully, we do get a special treat from time to time. Loggins & Messina was a treat.

Here’s another example IMHO:

So the story goes:

Some time in the 1970s a disc jockey put on "Imaginary Lover" by the Atlanta Rhythm Section. But he accidentally set the record player to the wrong speed and immediately noticed something......

Karim WasfI was a touching story. The cello is a fine instrument that I would love to have learned, especially with how it fits so well with rock and other modern music as well as the classics. Karim is not only an inspiration with a dream, but he faces danger with bravery few, myself included, would find the courage to do. I applaud him and his supporting musicians, and wish them safety and luck in their journey. Great video, Marky. Thanks, for posting.

Peace

I know there are several of us here on the forum who have a general interest in YouTube. So I ask this here, because I just can't wrap my brain around it.

First, if you aren't familiar with "Elsagate" just Google that word for some background.

I just came across this video today. It has 12. Million + views. Note the Arabic text, but the song is in English. Look at the date it was posted. Yesterday.

12 million views. Now check out the content that has so many people watching this video:

Found this on YouTube, no Steve Howe though, I think it's Trever Rabin on guitar:

Everyone knows now maybe more than ever before how mental illness has infected or touched so many. I was thinking about this because of the serious problems in Chicago. It isn't one thing only but the drug culture has not helped in that one would have hoped it could, just the opposite has happened. The history of bootlegging in Chi-town is in the end the end of innocence because it goes from the real stuff to bathtub gin and fentanyl laced street drugs, the cheaper the better for the battles in these rough area's for market share. Learning from mistakes is the hardest way. These two songs symbolize the not taking of psychological issues seriously in the beginning of the hippy era, having met many experimenters back in the day, they would ask me to drop the needle on this first song as they got off then they would want to hear this second song as they rode the wave most people woke up before Woodstock but we would lose a lot before we would get to now.

Good post, Rollie. I only lost one friend to that crap and that was one too many for me. Personally, I never even tried that stuff. A little weed and more than a little alcohol was my bag.

That's a sad story and I'm sorry to hear that, Rollie. I don't drink anymore either because I don't like it and it doesn't agree with my meds. No weed in over 40 years either. It may sound boring, but I'm happy.

That Elsagate stuff is just plain weird, and after researching what I could and couldn’t find on Super Tiki, etc. it reminds me of “This is your brain on drugs” adage and, perhaps, this fits, “This is your brain on Why videos and Why gaming”. Thankfully, it’s in a minority world. YMMV

Pretty interesting ghost_of_strings, but I’ll abstain.
