Great song that some people (like me) still play to this day!
You picked a great one from incredible musicians, Mike. Doesn’t surprise me though. Your talent makes it a good fit.

The Flaming Lips - great band with great songs. Thanks. Rollie. For a minute I thought I was watching Carrot Top with those fun lyrics.
I found this to be interesting:

My take on drugs with or without music is that great music has been made throughout the centuries with or without drugs. Add to the fact that many musicians who indulge(d) lose their creative ability when they lose their instrument, job, livelihood, and worse.

No preaching, just passing out options from a guy who lived amongst poppies and mushrooms.

I once caught my pant leg in a pedal brake bike causing me to speed down the hilly road, over a drop and up a ramp where I came to a sudden stop at the hospital doorway. Believe me when I say that going downhill at a fast rate only to crash is no picnic. The fun wears off pretty fast.
There will always be choices. Hopefully, they will be calculated and wise rather than slip shod. Of course, you can always set the drugs aside in your youth and middle years. As time moves on you’ll have more than your share of your drugs to digest . . . and yes some of those freebies are hallucinogenic.
They don’t call it junk and dope for no reason. :P

Factoid: There is now a movement to put opioid in controlled vending machines to prevent the selling and buying of tainted products. Maybe, they’ll be located by a Pawn shop.

You are so right that a good song is a good song, Mike. It can be a worth a million dollars. :P

Variations have been around since . . .

But, IMHO, the Bare Naked Ladies do it best.

Different, but concept related:

Yes indeed, FSB!

I'm going through some of the older videos in this thread and making a new mix tape (CD)
to keep in the car. There are some really great ones and lately I've been on a Lost 45s, One
Hit Wonders and British Invasion kick.

That sounds like fun, Mike. There are some great picks here in the Forum and it is not only entertaining, but highly informational that, at least for me, presents great alternatives, new and new old material that I missed or was not privy to. Nice!

My music collection includes rarities, B sides, experimental, and oddities. I collected that for most of my life with the belief that commercial airplay would always have some copy available. Today that is even more possible. Now I don’t know all that I have (a lot on tape), and the organization is ongoing because some quality issues are included with the technology of yesteryear. Still, for posterity it makes for an interesting fun filled listen. Funny how, like with pictures, subject or genre preference, and with age groups or past experience, some of those selections are only enjoyed by one self. That can be a satisfaction of it’s own.

Enjoy your recordings. Mike. :D

A little trivia tidbit Rollie. The guitarist who played on Chris Isaak's original was
Jimmy Wilsey. He used to post on this forum. I think he was WickedGTR or something?

He does a reverb drenched version of Superstar here:
