I didn't know that. The Animals did it in '66. Huh, thanks for kickin' down the knowledge, Mike. I think like the cover better. :)

Excellent pick, Mike. I’m a huge fan of the Animals. It helps that we were fortunate to have had Eric in our studios several times. Okay, before I ruffle feathers, lemme day I also like the Stones. Who wouldn’t with those guys, especially Keef. :D
However, I think Eric doesn’t get the spotlight as much as he deserves. I also have some idea why that might be; but, aside from going there and writing a book I will say the Stones know how to put on a show and Jagger has the moves:

Jagger may have it in his pants; but, Eric has the soul in his veins:

Had the best of the two been put together, it would have been like an atomic bomb. IMHO.

Great bio, Mike. That was very enjoyable sad as it is. I know that area around Tacoma. I grew up just across the Strait from The Ventures. Washington’s radio was in range for us to pick up all kinds of great tunes. I didn’t known that story about Buck Owens though. His band could really rock it out. The Buckaroos were not a one trick pony. They would sometimes treat the crowd overseas with a snippet of Rock and Roll tunes amongst the Country. Needless to say, The Ventures and Nokie were always big even amongst the British Invasion in our little England neighbourhood. Back then if you played guitar English or American - you played The Ventures. :D

This is a tremendous, professionally filmed show of the Stones at the Glastonbury Festival, which has never been released on Blu-ray.
There is a great live version of Satisfaction at the end of the show, which is one of the reasons why Satisfaction is the GRNRSOAT.

I agree, that is a terrific version of Satisfaction. They even had Mick Taylor with them on acoustic. I don't have time to watch the whole video now but I will. Nice post!

Don was good alright, Mike. Thanks, for the clip. Gotta get me one of those jackets with the bling. It wouldn’t have worked for me on the coast, but now living here in the prairies I’d look like a stud. Sad that he died in a motorcycle crash at the age of 32. Apparently, Buck Owens tried to talk him out of riding for good. The rest is history.

Here’s Don and some of that Buckaroos rawkin’:

Thanks, for the Glastonbury Festival concert, MJ. Watched the whole thing. Classic Stones.

Incidentally, I and my crew jammed our station’s control room in 1990 when we aired this:

I think it’a still in circulation, and IMAX is said to have it at times.

My pleasure, Marky. Steel Wheels was a historic album which eventually saw Bill Wyman leave the band, and the tour was called a comeback for the Rolling Stones. As well as the Stone’s induction to the RHOF in 1989, the tour, brought Mick and Keith back together again after their stints for their respective solo performances.

At first I thought that most every Stone’s fan would have seen the 3D video and/or concert I posted. Then I suddenly realized that, as the Stone’s celebrate more than 50 years rocking, and others even longer, the Steel Wheels concert and album is 28 years old! Wish I was 28 again. So that leaves out a lot of fans who, perhaps, never saw it in all it’s glory.

We’ve had satellite introduction, stereo introduction, surround sound, 3D, holography, and drones. I wonder what the next big surprise with Super Groups will be . . . that’s if the economics of Super Groups survives. My guess is we won’t see much difference until 3D or virtual reality without glasses.

Whatever it will be . . . it’s sure to be a limited appearance if history is any indication. Let’s hope the music can stand on it’s own. In fact I’m of the camp that believes music should stand on it’s own, and then add the bells and whistles. YMMV.

Peace.
“The Stones have left the arena”.
