Hey there, Matt. No offense made. In fact, just the opposite was intended. I’m not sure what your original post referred to; but. in case I missed it, I was passing on an agreement with ya for something I may have overlooked without getting into the details.

Sorry if I messed up, bro.

It's no biggie.
I just kinda .... sorta....
Posted something
(twice, in separate places)
specifically for your viewing pleasure and you made no comment.
So I've been slouching in the corner and shuffling my feet for a couple days with my head down like a depressed Charlie Brown, thinking "shucks, he hates it and he's too polite to tell me."

Actually, Matt, my faux pas bro’. I think too much of you to rain on your parade. I can be a bulldog at times though. Grrrr! However, most times I’m a puppy dog.

I admit I didn’t watch Downey at first; but, after your second post, I think I got it.

Time to make amends. Your post was definitely relevant. I enjoyed the maritime touch, and it was excellent for what it was.

I appreciate the concept and your intention, Matt. Thanks! As you know, brain cancer hits close to home for me.

That said, I can appreciate Downey for many things, and I know he had a fan base. I can see where the Hip are, but I also see where they aren’t.

I am not a fan even with the self back slapping CBC, and the promotion being huge on the Hip, and considering the circumstances, I know there are others of all ages who are not fans for one reason or another.

Musically, I think we have far better talent to be proud of, but that’s just me or maybe not. Even Brittney has fans, and believe me when I say she can’t dance and her singing is what it is.

Then again, there are those who are overlooked, and the Hip’s following speaks for itself even as it gathered steam throughout Downey’s bucket list journey. As a cult following, Downey has it hands down (no pun intended).

So your post definitely deserves one thumb up for meeting it’s mark, and another for your consideration. The music doesn’t score so well for me. YMMV

FSB

Note: I was trying to be the typical polite Canuck. Ya had to ask so there ya go.
In the end all is good at this end.

Now can I have your Helix?

Okay. So I’m biased. This is not only a hometown favourite band from the Canadian Hall Of Fame, but, my wife’s cousin was the lighting director for the band, and he lit fulltime for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. How’s that for a crossover?

FSB

I’ve always said that one or a few great songs are better than a lot of mediocre ones. I hope I have one before I see the next world. Ah. what the hey? I’ll keep trying then too. Just like wine, it’s not ready until it’s time, and it ain’t over until the plus size lady sings. :P

No way.
I'm liking that thing more and more all the time.
It is a HUGE learning curve, even for me, a guy who has had Line-6 modelling gear before.
The more I learn, the more I tweak.
I have a couple of clean sounds now that rival my old Rivera and that's saying something for a tone snob like me.
I'm slowly figuring out how to get the dirty patches to sound like there's some life to them.
I don't just mean the touch sensitivity.
All the models are much improved in that area from what I had before.
I mean the subtle dynamics that you hear but can't quite put into words when you crank an amp up and make it bristle.
If I could just figure out how to make it sound like there are speakers being tortured and electrocuted to death I'd be set.
Maybe that's the next digital challenge.
I think my success with the device is at least in part due to the fact I am playing the unit through a real amp.
Many people are apparently just hooking it up to a recording console or mixing board, presumably for the stereo thing.

As far as the vid goes, I was a big Hip fan, particularly in the early years.
My fave disc was Fully Completely.
I've seen them more times than I can remember.
They came here every 8 or 9 months or so back then an I went every time up until Day For Night.
Once Hen House came out I began to lose interest as it seemed they'd lost something.
They moved away from straight ahead rock and into some kind of intellectual space and I just wasn't following.
I'm all for intellect but to me, rock is primal.
My best mate, Kev, is the guy who wrote and made that vid.
He has sometimes asked me to contribute on his projects but not this one.
It's too bad you didn't like it, or the Hip for that matter.
I thought that was one of the 40 things we shared.

Aw, come on. Pretty please. I’ll make you a deal. You let me have the Helix. I’ll get it to sound dirty, and you can borrow it when you want. I’ll even throw in a toque. You want, but don’t need, the Helix. You do need a toque. I know that blizzard area. Trust me. The groupies will love your new look.

Aa far as the vid and the song it was very good. The band Phht! :P And no, I’m not being nice. I only get nice once a day. I don’t like to wear it out or it’s insincere.

Cheers!
FSB

What day will the Helix arrive?

Matt, somehow I missed your post but maybe that was good, in a way, because I got a better understanding of the song after reading your posts with FSB. I found it very moving. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks, Marky.

FSB, I must decline your generous (dubious) offer.

I don’t blame you, Matt. I wouldn’t take a thousand toques for that Helix of yours. In fact, I wouldn’t even take one toque.

Thanks, for the Mary Lou post, Mike. That cat can play and I like his style.
