Thanks, for the post, Mike. Saw his tour this summer and, besides Brad being a great sports fan, I have to say if one wants to see a Tele Bender workout you will see it on his present tour. The rest isn’t too shabby either, and you don’t have to like Country music to appreciate the guitar work this guy puts out. One of the best IMHO and he’s got lots of time to grow to be more amazing than he already is. :D

Yes and it's too bad Farner isn't with them anymore.

Here's what Mark Farner's been up to lately: (skip to the 1:02 marker) :

Those Astros are pretty stoked as are the fans. Congrats!

Reminds me of a song I’ve always liked:

As for Brad and the gang, what a lineup of chicken pluckers or is that chicken pickers? Either way they’re great. Thanks for posting, Mike.

There is a lot of hate and senseless tragedy happening out there!

Thanks, for your post, Mike. What’s Going On? (Motown’s 2nd most successful song) is one of my all time favourites. For me, it’s addictive. and it’s never far out of reach. The creativity of this, and other similar songs are outstanding IMHO.

It should be noted that poet songwriter Robert Allen Zimmerman (Bob Dylan) has proven to be wrong when he did “The Times They Are a-Changin”.

Me thinks they are not.

Factoid: What’s Going On? and Ball Of Confusion were released within a year of each other.

But, if one thinks times are rough today, let it be known that protests and protest songs have been around for centuries. In fact, North Americans are newcomers to this phenomena.

Look back at history and almost every argument from slavery to politics, the separation between rich and poor, gender rights, and everything in between has been at the helm. No nukes back then? True; but, other methods have spread destruction to populations.

In days of old, bards questioned “What’s Going On?”, and minstrels and counterparts in every nation then spread their words telling and singing of the “Ball Of Confusion”. What goes around comes around. Now ya know.

Thanks, Marky.

I sometimes wonder how colonies on the moon and/or Mars would work out. Maybe, we’ll have a whole new era of related songs written. One thing for sure, rap will probably be there.

That was most excellent, because the games were great and the Astros had never won the World Series.

What really sweetened the deal was that the Dodgers had the highest opening day payroll in MLB, the Yankees had the second highest, and the Red Sox had the third highest. The Astros had the eighteenth highest payroll and beat all three of them in the post season. It's always nice when the best teams money can buy aren't the best teams.

Kind of like guitars.
