Mystery Train - Great Elvis post, SBLS.

Count me in as a big Elvis fan too. I have old mags, old newspapers, an old 100 Elvis Hits songbook, hours of old radio interviews (although poor quality, the content is very good if I ever find them again), and there is an Elvis cutout on my traps amongst my lousy past impressions (can't get the lip down). Your post has some of the best Presley photos I've never seen until now. Thanks, for that, SBLS.

While I do like much of his later stuff too, there's something special about his earlier raw material. Perhaps, it was happier times and under produced simplicity. Whatever it was . . . it was pure Elvis IMHO.

Hard to choose one favourite, this is one of my faves that is often reproduced by both Elvis and others; but, in my mind, Elvis owns this one. YMMV

Cool song, Elvis the performer, what Little Richard said , "electifying" .

It's very cool that you have all that old Elvis stuff! "One Night With You" is a great song and I enjoyed the video. Don't worry about not having his lip thing down. I've never seen anyone really do it justice. Elvis was a man who made girls faint from 30 feet away. Now that's some serious mojo. :D
I've always been a music history nut, because the history is as interesting or more so than the music at times, and Elvis had a great story that continues today as we learn more.

I don't qualify as a fanatic though. My collection is modest, and I'm not into belt buckles, costumes, and wigs.

In my younger years I would mimick Elvis (when we were both skinny) with the traditional silver Elvis shades and the moves, my buddy would shine a light and stand next to me and do the lip, and our two wives would swoon. Nobody fainted?! I guess I wasn't electrifying.
Thank you very much. :P
FSB has left the building. 8)

Agreed, Mike. Ann can still belt it out. She is a terrific addition to the music world and we're lucky to have her.

The Fab Four.
Really?:

The truth behind the song::

America's answer to The Beatles and the band behind the song:

Not to take it away from Britain's Beatles who are indeed the original Fab Four, but The Knickerbockers were, perhaps, one of the best and underrated bands of the 60s. At least in my neighbourhood on the other side of the continent, word of mouth mentioned The Knickerbockers. They were recognized amongst those in bands before Lies hit the charts. Living in a city of mad dogs and well travelled Englishmen probably had something to do with that (and that's in a town full of Beatles fans and clones). One can easily forget the imitation aspect as even the best artists are influenced and emulate to some degree. The Beatles certainly did and didn't.

Unfortunately, as other bands have experienced, label and distribution issues played havoc with The Knickerbockers . We all know Elvis and The Beatles would not have attained the level of fame without the great support, promotion and distribution amongst other things. If you are familiar with The Knickerbockers work- no explanation needed. If not, check out their great guitar licks and layered vocals. This band had it all. IMHO.

With that I'll leave ya with this:

I have the music, but I'd like to have the beer too. Was it any good, Mike? Careful. The Jersey boys might be watching.

Knickerbocker beer, a product of Rupperts Brewery has been gone since the mid 1970’s. The brewery located at 92nd street and 2nd avenue in manhattan closed it’s doors in the late 1960’s. The product line and brand name was purchased by another brewery but discontinued in the 70’s. (No, it wasn't very good, FSB).

It brings to mind this ole Jerry Lee tune :

Thanks, for the history and all, Mike. Knickerbocker beer may have been crappy and living on its name; but, Jerry Lee and his song were terrific. It doesn't hurt that I'm a Jerry Lee fan either. Thanks, for posting. :D
Cheers!

I saw Billy in March or April 87 at UIC Pavillion. Kick $@! band. The warm up act was The Cult. Very cool concert.

I love these "isolated" part tracks, this is the isolated vocals and wow, great harmony!
