Mindi is pretty cool blowin' sax with the Boneshakers on this James Brown cover
done in a bluesy way :

Glad you enjoyed Kumi, Mike. What's not to like about the Boneshakers. Lots of good moves and Mindi plays a mean sax. Saxes add that little sumpin' in a band and your vid was really good, Mike. Great selection.

There's more saxes here and if you look in the background you'll see Jimi Hendrix next to the drummer. I may have posted this elsewhere, I dunno (it was a while ago). Many will be familiar with this video, but I'm sure it is new to others. Anyhow, here it is :

Gotta go and practice swingin' the Strat under my leg.

Yup! Same post found in 'Funk Music, every day people, good for the soul'. It's that good. :P

Glad you enjoyed Chilliwack, Marky. One of the drummers not seen here (Jerry Adolphe) went to my high school and he played in the Marquis with friends of mine. He's considered to be one of the best percussion teachers in North America (he spent time in LA and with David Foster who is also from Victoria) and he is a first list for studio drummers. Rolling Stone once named Chilliwack the best band in Canada, and they would have been even bigger had it not been for record labels playing a game of Russian roulette with here today gone tomorrow.

As for the acoustics, the guys used to go to a boat amongst the Gulf Islands in BC and write their songs on acoustic, and then they would do the electric version in the studios and on stage. They've been known to have written hit songs in less than a half hour. Many other well known artists' hit songs from both sides of the border and other bands have included Chilliwack's members' contributions (including Chicago and Bryan Adams) and they are known for co-writing as well as award winning producing by members of this group.

Here's a side group with the Chilliwack gang:

Brian MacLeod who formed the Headpins was nicknamed Too Loud hence the song. :D Sadly, in 1990 Brian collapsed on stage with brain. lung, and bone cancer taking it's toll. :(

Thanks FSB for the background info. It's very interesting. I'm going to check out more songs by both groups on YouTube.
That is sad about Brian. He must have been way too young.
