Then I'd still be wondering if I live in the country must they be originating from out of the country. Outerspace perhaps, Martian would know. Miss Martian

So I ran out of strings, down to my guitar shop to buy more and come across String Driven Thing guitarist / singer Chris Adams giving a talk on his book The Grail Guitar, claiming to be Jimi's purple haze Telecaster borrowed from Noel for the recording. Took a couple of pics ,but as usual with phone pics ( mine at least) not the best, couldn't stay till the end to get closer for better pic, might be good read though, search The Grail Guitar by Chris Adams, anyway, here's String Driven Things who I came across when I went a drive for strings.

I never heard the band before (old fart) but I like their sound. What a cool chance encounter. 8)

Thank you FSB. I have always been surprised by Elvis popularity in the far east.

Here is the Scottish Elvis, the last of the teenage idols

wiki: reference for "There's a Riot Goin' On" it is the fifth studio album by American band Sly and the Family Stone, released on November 20, 1971, by Epic Records

"The album's title track is silent and listed as zero minutes and zero seconds long. For many years it was speculated that this cryptic track listing and the title of the album referred to a July 27, 1970 riot in Chicago, Illinois for which Sly & the Family Stone had been blamed. The band was to play a free show in Grant Park (Chicago) but the crowd became restless before the band began and started rioting. Over a hundred people were injured, including several police officers, and the reason given to the press was that the band was late and/or refused to perform. The original LP jacket featured a photo collage with a picture of the band-shell in Grant Park overlaid with a photo of a police car. However in 1997 Sly Stone said that the "There's a Riot Goin' On" track had no running time simply because "I felt there should be no riots."

The band in this video warmed up for Sly that day. Good band, good enough for a couple of encores, after 3 hours of this band, waiting for Sly, the crowd began tossing police cars around . We were far from the stage so got to our car before the tear gas.
Exciting summer afternoon.

Thanks, for that live Hot Rats selection, Mike. I have the CD alongside my Apostrophe album. :) Rollie, thanks for the history of that no show Sly concert, your experience, and the background on the record. Good stuff.
