This was a great tour, I was at the Chicago show. I always thought of this band as Van Halen on adderall 8) . A surprise when their guitar based rock and roll was way better than I expected, similar to AC/DC before I actually listened to their records.
This stage is so cool, extended right into the crowd, setup in front of Aerosmiths stage. After Dokken played the crew struck the entire structure, 4 or 5 trailers of gear, and rolled it all under the Allstate Arena to the waiting trailers.

Great song, great lyrics, stellar guitar playing on a 1956 strat, Richard Thompson does it all

I just wish he'd got round to fixing that neck pickup before retiring the guitar.

1:50 onwards is where he starts to wind up the string bending chops, ends with a fierce display of bending every note in every direction including sideways. Just brilliant.

I'm always slightly surprised when guitarists haven't heard him. He's been around forever, massively influential but kind of avoids the spotlight of fame. Here's something a little more recent, guitar on this one is a Ferrington custom job which he seems to use a lot now.

I am not looking for for new 'idols' all the time :) I guess I've seen ,heard , liked & forgot a whole bunch of guitarists. I admit that the 80's music & musicians are a bit blurry to me (from various reasons :? )
In this clip , the guitar work was excellent , but the song didn't cut it for me . But I guess I'll check him out further.
As that being said , music to me, does not entirely circle around the guitar player . Always watching/listening to all the instruments/players , and to the whole piece together - as it was meant to be. Maybe thats the reason I don't care much for the 'guitar - masturbators'
