Remember the problem I was having with my vibro champ (it kept buzzing)? It turns out that it was not my amp at all, it was my guitar, as I found out playing through numerous amplifiers. The guy at the shop said that the jack was the problem and they'd get it fixed. However, it wouldn't be fixed until either Monday or Tuesday.

When I went home, after my mom cooked something we went to the beach. At the beach, I went for a swim in the ocean. Coming on shore, I realized that my phone was still in my pocket, the entire fifteen minutes I was in the water! So my new phone that I got for finishing school well, is now gone, and more upsetting is thinking about why I even took it with me. I am not going to make my parents pay $50 for a new replacement; I am going to stick with my old phone.

It would be nice to play the blues right now, but I can't even do that!

For now, it's just me and the clock.

Dear me. I also once had a phone go for a swim in the sea with me, and no, they don't like it much; salt water + turned on battery = gone forever. So condolences. But at least your guitar is fixable, and that's the important thing.

I'll take a working amp over a working cell phone any day of the week...who cares about the phone, the amp will be ready to rock in a few days!

You don't need an amp to play guitar. Improvise.

But you really should invest in a small battery powered amp in case the power goes out. You did pay you light bill:)

Also you could plug your guitar into your computer sound card and download some software. Check out Miami Mike. He has some recording software he uses.

Sorry about your phone but things can be replaced you and your family can't. So be thankful every day:)

Sorry you have had a bad day. Good news about the amp. Sucks about the guitar and cell phone. I hope your day improves.

All on the cellphone front is not lost.

Strip that phone down as much as you can. Back cover off, sim card out, battery out.
Place it on a thin'ish towel.
Place the towel on top of a house radiator or in the boiler cupboard. You need it to be something that has heated water in it. I dont know why but it sucks the moisture out of the surrounding air.

Leave it there for a couple of days. Put it back together and switch it on. You may have to charge the battery. I've done this a few times for mates phones. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Hello Hendrixfan99,

I've lost 2 phones to the washing machine,
1 done in by the seashore, and 1 off my crane.
Now I buy used ones at the pawn shop about $20
and swap out the card.

Stuff happens.

Hopefully the guitar will be in good order
when you get it back.

Cheers.

So much for modern technology.....people and their toys joined at the hip, walking down the street as if talking to themselves. They look like a nation of nutjobs.

The computers are having their way with us. So much so that a sentient"Skynet" might yet come to pass. I offer you Frank Herbert, creator of the "Dune" universe some 45 years ago. In its history, the Butlerian Jihad which occurred 10,000 years prior to the present time of the novel, overthrew the machines. When "The Great Convention" of worlds convened one of their first acts was agree never again to create a machine which could think.

Mull that over as you seek to become the first one on your block own the next reincarnation of a PDA.

Whither next.................. T-1000?

That's a rough day! Well, at least your guitar is getting fixed, and the cell phone is replaceable. Can't sweat the small stuff too much!

I heard a guy from a phone company talking on the radio and he said a very high cause of broken phones was when they drop out of a top pocket into the toilet bowl. Can that be true - are so many people leaning to peer into their toilets...?

Still, I lost a phone to a tin of house paint that way.

Hendrixfan99, the guitar issue sounds like the good bit of your Saturday. That's a very easy and cheap problem to fix. Much easier than new amp tubes, one of the possibilities suggested on the other thread.

Will they be giving you a new jack socket, or just resoldering the old one?

Cheers - C

Well, the point I was trying to make was who cares about the cell phone, the guitar (or amp as I thought) is all that matters. People are too dependent on their cellphones...I see kids at the college I work at who are seriously addicted to texting, as they need to respond to every text immediately, even if they are "on the clock" at work, or in class, the texting seems to be more important to these kids than their job or paying attention class...

Dude I have to tell you that those things that happened to you are extremely MINOR in the grand scheme of life. You shouldn't make your parents pay the $50 for a new phone, it was your responsibilty. About that guitar jack, WOW another big deal, at leat its getting fixed. These things will be the easiset things that went wrong in your life once you grow up and look back at it.

Naw it's fine I don't care too much about the cell phone. If you read my post carefully, I am upset about the fact that I will have one less thing to do (play guitar), so every time I feel like going downstairs and plugging it in, I have to remind myself. Not terribly depressing, but a bit of a bummer.

And I am familiar with the spread of technology, ZZDoc, if anything, i only use my cell phone (usually) for needs. Yes it is nice to text once in a while, but I am certainly not one of those who sit and text all day. :D

I am too against machines that are 'smart.' Ask my parents, I don't ask for much, I was actually GIVEN the phone as a little gift. But no biggy, they said it is okay and that they will pay a little for a replacement (even though I didn't ask), and that I should be more vigilant.

All is not lost, however, I still have my cheap acoustic ;)
