No pic of me and the "E." During the 10 days of that show, I was actually a bigger musical deal than Esteban 'round that hotel. :)

If only things had continued apace...

My wife was wanting me to try some Christmas stuff so I thought I would try ye ole Esteban. Wouldn't ya know it, two tuning machines are stripped :( . Also looks like the neck is starting to separate from the body on one side.

Oh well, Merry Christmas everyone and have a safe and HSN free New Year! :D

Ever hear the man speak on any of those HSN shows? He looks like Zoro and talks like Hulk Hogan. It's not natural.

But since I'm still learning open chords... who the h*ll am I to be throwing stones. 8)

Who are any of us to throw stones, like him or not, the majority of his time is spent playing music. Isn't that something all of us on the forums would like to do?

Esteban, Gene Simmons, Ray Kroc, Colonel Sanders......all of them took their "product" and watered it down for the sake of $$$$. Colonel Sanders himself said that when he began to go "big business" and he no longer was comfortable with the quality of the food being offered for the sake of profit, he got out, but his name will be identified with those nasty mashed potatoes for all of eternity. Does anyone know if the first Esteban guitars were better quality, as maybe he intended, and than as production got bigger the quality was sacrificed for profit without his knowledge? We don't know that, and besides, if you are buying a guitar on HSN or at Wal mart you shouldn't expect much I'd think.

Couldn't agree more WI KISSfan. I do wonder if early versions were any better? Oh well the art work is still cool and it's worth it to have something to experiment on repair wise without as lot of risk.

I agree. I still don't like the BS Segovia story, but I am still a Chef, and not a RockStar.
But you really have to wonder what those guitars are really made of.........

he invented becoming a celebrity by marketing on late night TV.

I have one. Wanted a 2nd acoustic for when friends stop by. Didn't like it at first but after a new nut and saddle, and set up with the action lowered it is easy on the fingers and sounds pretty good. For fingerpicking I'll play it instead of the Ovation.

Thus be wary of any infomercials promoting shoe polish.

The spec sheet says lindon wood. If I remember one of Ceri's posts right, he said that basswood was known as lindonwood on his side of the pond. Mine is pretty but was hard on the fingers and sounded terrible at first. Figured it would just hang on the wall unless we really needed a 2nd acoustic for a song and no one brought one but after some tweaks it plays fine and gets used alot. I would put it against anything on the shelf priced at what I have into it after a new nut and bridge. The amp was cheap but gave it to my son so I don't have to share mine anymore and he can practice in his room. The postersized chord chart is on his wall and if he can get anything out of the DVDs then that is a bonus. I'm not disappointed with the deal but not sure I would buy another unless it was a "theme" that I really wanted.

It's obvious that you know the difference between lindenwood and Shinola. 8)

Except how to spell! Didn't have a clue what lindenwood was until Ceri mentioned it in his "Pyrocaster" rebuild thread.
