Sunburst have always been my favorite - I have several - just picked up another one today, a 2006 anniversary, the silver case, diamond, ive wanted one of these since they were released, finally found one in mint condition, all the stickers, plastic still on it! Sweet guitar!

I'm actually surprised I'm not seeing any black pickguards. I really love this look for a Sunburst.

The Sienna Sunburst is just a great looking guitar.
Paint isn't hiding the glories of the ash.

Five of my 13 are sunbursts. My favorite 'bursts are my Highways. The colors seem to blend into each other more than some of the others I've seen. Here's the Tele . . .

if you love the good ole nothin fancy sunburst, comment on why you like it here!

It's interesting as to how that finish has varied over the years. My favorite was my '58 which I do not have a color photo of, but it is best exemplified by the CS guitar in Alainlafrance's collection which Fender called "Buddy" after Buddy Holly. Next was the deep finish on the early Artist SRV's which I find lately are a tad brighter than the first.

The Sienna's are spectacular against that ash grain and, with those, the luck of the draw comes with the wood. The Cherry Bursts on alder are rather nice as well.

You are absolutely right Doc. Alain's 58 is the best example of a burst I've seen. They just don't do it like that anymore do they? The way it blends it does not have the stripe effect. They were real Artisans!

That 'bleed through' effect is what was missing when they refinished my guitar 40 years ago. From what I've gleaned since, they went to that red accent sometime in the mid-60's

The CS guitar I swapped out for my Gilmour in October last, had all black plastic.

.The guitar's finish was based on the Artist SRV which, in it's earliest inception had dark 3-tone sunburst done in the style of the discussion on the adjacent post. However, they did not get that quite right. It had a more pronounced red band, not to my liking, and was lighter.

The sunburst is standard on the Classic Player Jazzmaster Special. I like it:
