I like the contour of the Stratocastor. It has the feel of a good woman in my arms. It is lighter than the Gibsons and Ibanez's(the older ones anyway). I also like the tonal qualities and the ease of customization. I can literally replace the pickups on a Strat in about 30 minutes, the neck in 10. Can anyone say that about a Gibson.

No you can't with a Gibby but you also can not compare the two. The Strat was made to be a modular guitar and the Gibby was not. A lot more time goes into making a set neck then a bolt on neck guitar. I like them both and can't understand how they can be compared

Well i'm embarrased to say that i don't own a Fender guitar but have wanted one for a while. Simply because of the name sake and reputation. I do however own a 1970 strat copy noname that feels good and sounds good which is what matters anyways.

I just got back in to guitar. To be honest I was looking at the Les Pauls. For whatever reason I got tired of looking at knock offs. Considered the strat style. Ended up getting a Schecter ATX. The fire is rekindled with playing. Just ordered a Clapton CS. I wanted to go with the real thing. Part feel, part mojo, part history. Been reading the Stratocaster Chronicles. The attached CD has "50 sounds of strat." Listened on the way into work. That's just another reason I got one.

The look, the feel, the taste, the touch, the sound.

Also, it's like the most famous brand name in guitar land.

Ah, the taste of a Strat. A much underrated factor.

And sometimes the smell, too. The smell of a pickup cavity that hasn't been opened for years: now that's special...

Cheers - C

Hi Triskele, ma'am: I'm sure that's true.

But what is it you like about Fender guitars?

Hmmm it seems that comfort is the major selling point of Fenders

fender guitars chant you saying,"come here, play me little boy"

when I visited the local store,I tried avoiding fender when I was a little younger and buy what I have on my options.les paul studio, ibanez r++,SG,etc. but heck,I'd say i'm gonna try all of em before I buy my studio.and there.bam.standard strat.a squier though.well,at least its not a fender(directly)

I'd say the comfort of playing it,the different sounds it make(due to the spacing of the PUPs)

I started learning (2 years ago) on a Squier strat, but when I've tried other guitars, what keeps me liking the Strat is its versatility - rock to country. Plus, I don't know if it's because I started with single coil, but I haven't liked the humbucker tone that most other brands are limited to.

:!: The neck shape
:!: The neck scale
:!: The body shapes of the Strat and Tele (y'all can keep all the other rubbish)
:!: The "mod-a-bility" of the guitars

Fender has left a wide margin for customization it's great that you can make the guitar your own, in a sense, and know chances are nobody has the same Fender as you.

For me it was the size of the frets as I needed bigger ones when I was learning.
