For me it was fluk, Iwas aware of the different makes of guitars, but as I called around the only curtious retail store put a EJ Strat in my hands, it was a profound act of destiny. Since that moment not only have I been able to achieve a lifelong goal of playing an instrument but the learning experience has been more fantastic than Icould have ever imagined. All because of a kind salesman who took the time to sit and talk with a 49 yr old and tell him that its never to late .Fender has not just been a guitar company to me but a resource for making dreams come true.

I've played a Martin acoustic for about 7 years and decided last July to get an electric. Forgive me for what I am about to say, but I was not even looking at Fenders. I felt they were kind of cliche and I always try to stay away from things that are hyped. I was looking mainly at Les Pauls and SGs, yes I know they are also hyped and cliche. Then I checked out some other brands, Ibanez, Schecter, Washburn etc. Finally I picked up a MIM Strat and it just felt so RIGHT! So to answer you question I would have to say comfort, quality and playabililty. I guess I also have now given into the "hype" as well. It is an iconic instrument that deserves all the praise it gets

Hello IrishMike203.

Comfort, hands down
the Stratocaster with it's original contour body.

Also beauty in both form and function.

Cheers.

When I bought my P-Bass it was the tone and action. It was just so easy to play.

I pulled it off the rack in the store and my hand would not let go when it was time to leave :D

That has happened a few too many times.

I'm going to have to go with the comfort thing myself. When I bought my 92 Plus, I tried damn near every guitar in GC Santa Ana. Not even the custom Strats felt as good to me that day.. My hat's off to whoever was responsible for making it. Still to this day, the most comfortable guitar I own. I think it was made in Brea.

From when I was a kid I wanted a Les PAUL so bad. In my teens I had a lot of knockoff teles and Les pauls and when I had enough money to buy the real thing I got a tele and then 4 years later another one. Then I got into strats and then I was just Fender obsessed lol. Tone,Quality and Playability and in a way Simplicity there is nothing like em. 30 odd years later I am still waiting for that Les Paul

The feel, sound and playability. Also the fact that it is Fender.

Each guitar sells itself to me. It does not matter if it says Fender on the headstock or another.

I like the contour of the Stratocastor. It has the feel of a good woman in my arms. It is lighter than the Gibsons and Ibanez's(the older ones anyway). I also like the tonal qualities and the ease of customization. I can literally replace the pickups on a Strat in about 30 minutes, the neck in 10. Can anyone say that about a Gibson.

Definitely comfort and playability. Not a heavy like some other brands nor are they cheap feeling. I really just think Fender landed on the perfect neck and the perfect body, That is just a joy to play.

I was close to getting a Les Paul in my teen years having been a GN'R fan but my favourite Guns N' Roses guitarist (NOT Slash), Mr Izzy Stradlin had used a 62 Tele quite a lot and his replacement Gilby Clarke, whom I also admired used them too, I got a MIM and I fell in love with the shape, tone, simplicity and the straight out neck is stellar for chord work.

I loved the sound of a 72 Tele Custom thanks to Keef Richards and Izzy's use of it on Izzy Stradlin and The Ju Ju Hounds. I then got a RI in 2003 having sold my standard and love the unusually dark glossy neck, the blending of the pick-ups with the separate controls, a thing I liked bout Les Paul's and so many other things. I'd found my beloved Tele shape with Les Paul appointments to boot..........class!

I then realised 'its not just the shape of the car but what you got under the hood', Fender's are so easily modified and the range of options is limitless.

I just love them!!!!!
