Hi markvalones: check the list price for each and you will get an idea of how Fender thinks they compare.

That tells you nothing about the relative merits of each factory of origin: those guitars are built to fill a price point in the catalog.

Now: get ready for what others here are likely to add...

Cheers - C

It's a personal preference. Each guitar is different and finding the one that makes you happy is the way to go.

Personally I have a preference for mid 80's MIJ's.

What's "better"is very vague.

From what I remember, the MIJ's used to be more consistent and of very high quality. MIM's can be very good, even great, though their consistency isn't quite the same.

So does "better" mean consistency, color options, electronic quality, fret polishing, paint finish, price?

I have a CIJ Vintage 62 Tele Custom Car, it's my favorite guitar of the six I own. It's a fabulous instrument, I can't put in to words how this guitar plays and sounds. It's all down to personal choice I guess, I honestly feel I got lucky the day I got this.

I'm kind of like you Snowy. I've got several expensive guitars that I love but I can't really say they "play" better than my 85 MIJ!

I had to ask myself again Hop, as I wrote my last post. But in all honesty, it's the guitar I play the most. I know I don't need to preach to the converted

Hi Snowy: nice to see you around. I was on the verge of starting an "anyone seen Snowy?" thread today. But I looked back at your last post and realised it wasn't quite as long ago as I'd somehow thought.

Anyhow: carry on twangin' that thang! (When's your Boss gig, BTW? Must be soon - or just past.)

Cheers - C
