Right now I'm reading 'The Road to Woodstock' writing by Michael Lang, the mastermind and creative genius who brought Woodstock to life http://tinyurl.com/norq4m. This is a very interesting read!

In it I read that Michael Lang also put on the 'The Miami Pop Festival' in 1968 http://themiamipopfestival.com/, where Jimi Hendrix was the headliner.

Jimi was to play two shows but the second show was rained out. It was in the limo riding back to the hotel that Jimi wrote the lyrics for Rainy Day, Dream Away . I've a bootleg of Jimi's show http://www.archive.org/serve/jimihendrix1968-05-18/jimihendrix1968-05-18.wma for years but didn't realize that there was more info.

It turns out that the festival was filmed, but the festival lost money and Lang couldn't pay the film makers, so this footage could still be found.

I did find 8mm film footage on YT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBC5iOleCfc.

I must say that the song Purple Haze there sounds out of time and the playing just doesn't sound that good. His singing is quite alright though.

Glad that you enjoyed them. Honestly I didn't even know that 'The Miami Pop Festival' site even existed. I had never seen those pictures of Jimi, Mitch & Noel.

But, I must again post that 'The Road to Woodstock' http://tinyurl.com/norq4m is a really interesting story about Woodstock.
