Who plays a resonator? Always wanted to try one out. I found that Rondo Music has an inexpensive Left Handed one that I'm thinking about getting.

I've always loved Resonators!! :D
I've been able to play one at a music store in our area, and it was just too cool. :P

I hope to be able to buy one in the near future.... 8)

Hi Chet, I have a fairly inexpensive one one and I have a ball with it. They're pretty loud and in your face. I use mine primarily for slide so my strings are a bit heavy. I use John Pierce strings and a slide called a Mudslide. It's ceramic and sings like glass but the inside is porous so it kind of wicks moisture away from your finger.

Now I'm thinking of getting a metal body resonator.

Thanks, Mike. I guess I could have google'd it.

Is "resonator" a brand name? I've always called that type of guitar a "do-bro".

I actually love those things, especially played by a great slide blues guy.

Resonator isn't a brand name, Fender even makes them too. It's the "spider" or "cone" that makes the resonating sound as naturally oscillates at some frequencies, called its resonance frequencies, with greater amplitude than at others.

Haven't played one but I love the sound, and would use it with a slide or fingerpicking, I've been thinking much about getting a dobro lately

Any cheap recomendations, besides the Rondo?

Regal makes them too. I wouldn't mail order one, the cone can get knocked out of whack and can buzz like a can of bees. Play it and be sure you like it. Also, you can replace the cones pretty easily. A good cone can really make it come alive.

Isn't Dobro a brand owned by Gibson?

I have toyed around with a few. A friend of mine has a Bisket and a Tricone that He plays. The sound projection is realy something else.
