Yes, too opinionated...like comparing humbuckers to single coils.

Play both. See which tone you like better. That would be the one I would get if I were you.

Well he has me confused as he said my next guitar, unless he has an acoustic, he should get the opposite of what he already has so he can cover all grounds.

Ok the title is decieving  , but I need you guys' help. I have a choice for my next guitar:
Epiphone Les Paul or Fender Strat

Hi GuitaristBassist11: you gotta ask yourself which you want more, then buy that one. You don't really let a bunch of strangers on the internet choose your guitars for you - do you?

But here's a hint. A Les Paul with a bolt-on neck? YUK - that's SO wrong...!

Cheers - C

LES PAUL

-no noise;no feedback
-very good at any genre
-has wider frets thus having a "fast" neck and suited for people with small hands
-NO TREMOLO(but you can bend  )
-very heavy

STRATOCASTER
-favored by most musicians
-twang(either awesome or pain to the ears depends on your preference)
-more flexible than les paul
-has a TREMOLO
-pickups generates noise and a hella feedback but can be remedied by using noise cancelling pedals

but again, nothing would satisfy you than making you try these guitar on store and choose what you prefer(I also had trouble that's why i bought a STRAT copy and a LES PAUL copy with my money that is intended for one)

But I would strongly suggest you buy a fender strat or an squire because les pauls are overpriced and you dont really get more bang out of your buck.If you're planning to buy a les paul,Avoid the one with a bolt-on neck (studio, special II,emily the strange, goth)

STILL CAN't CHOOSE BETWEEN THE TWO?

If you're considering the price, the sound, the "solid" feel and you want the looks of both without buying two of 'em...

Like with my case,I ended up with this one

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-Li ... 1391552.gc

its an awesome guitar for its price  )

Awwwww you guys aren't strangers  True about the LP. I played them and I decided on a Strat. I'll post pictures when I get the guitar.

Depends on the sound you are looking for. Play both and see which one you like best. For me the Stratocaster would win out, I just do not care for Epiphone too much (bad experience with one).

I was just out auditioning Les Pauls last weekend, to try to get what's the big deal about them, because it's always escaped me. Les Paul's sound is okay. That's it. I was playing a very nice one - 2100 plus goldtop. Looked really beautiful and had a nice feel. Sound was just okay. Played a Gibson 335 (BB King-like but with violin holes) that really was way better. What set the 335 apart was great sensitivity to vibrato - the BB King style of violin-like vibrato, which adds so much character to the music. Then I went home and plugged in my Strat, a Highway One upgraded with Custom Shop Texas Special pickups. It's a world of difference in tone, and the Fender Custom Shop tone is much, much better. The tone from my Custom Shop Texas Specials is wicked, with just a hint of that classic Stratocaster jet engine vibe, where the Gibson tone is just limp in comparison. The 335 was very beautiful, though, and hat the great sensitivity to vibrato, and the Les Paul was also beautiful. For tone, though, it's Fender Custom Shop.

I've played them both and it seems like the Strat. I really like road worns and the MIM standards. The American ones are great.

They are both in the same class price wise so it is totally up to you as to what feels and sounds better.
