Thinking about upgrading my Strat nut from the plastic to a Vintage unbleached Camel Bone. Bleaching can whiten the color but weakens the material !Supposed to be a lot denser than cow or ox for better sustain and over all sound. I ordered a # of these camel bone blanks for my Strat and Martin 000EC both came with micarta parts.
Here's the deal any body can play!! The first to guess the correct # of blanks I bought " Hint< than 50 in total "gets a free Vintage Camel Bone blank sent to you on my dollar Please put your preference as to lighter or darker bone as the color varies from whiter ivory color to a caramel color. They have to be shaped by a luthier. The camel bone polishes up wonderfully!!

Good luck !! Winners will be announced Saturday the 4rth after 3 Mountain std time!!
PS I am aprivate player enthusiest not promoting anything but good Karma !! Maybe others will come up with an idea &Pay it forward !!!

I use roller bearing nuts, they work great.
Don't plan to go back to the bone/plastic stuff any time soon.
Actually to go back would probably mean a new neck, which I really would not want :)

But thanks for the offer/thought :!: :!: :!:

You guys should see the headers in my inbox.
Special nuts, lovely nuts, smoking nuts, funny nuts. I'm pretty much inuendo proof for the past 2 weeks.

Hi Aeromat209: what a nice gesture you made with this thread: kudos to you.

As a matter of curiosity, why did you buy 14 nut blanks for two guitars? Did you not expect them to last long, or were you anticipating mangling several whilst learning to cut them? Or perhaps you know a source for bone at five cents per blank - care to share?

Anyhow. I'll guess you bought 14 blanks. Am I too late to enter?

Cheers - C
