Hi Martian: I'm thinking about all the questions I wanted answered when I was starting out. Some of those you listed are fairly sensible by comparison!

I don't think there are any questions that I'm hearily sick of - but maybe that's because there's quite a few thread titles I don't click on any longer.

Anything with ___ v ___ in the title, for starters...

Cheers - C

words of wisdom Martian.

How about:

Which colour of guitar makes you play faster?

This is a stupid question because everyone knows it's red.

Na!!!! That would be candy Green!!!!

Nah, the red ones have more top end, especially the candy apple red.

The candy green ones have better accelleration, for faster hammers, pulls and trills. Seafoam green have better handling. Black ones are radar invisible, and the 2 tone burst have the most foot pounds of torque.

 I'm shocked Martian, as helpful as you are and always giving wise advice to all the pickup questions. While I've got you here, I just bought a new guitar so can you tell me what pickups to buy and install and why in detail.

As many times as those questions are asked... isn't that one of the functions of a Discussion Forum? I know when I first came to this forum I did a lot of lurking, but I never made an attempt of weeding through the thousands of older posts looking for answers.

Of course, when I first started out on the guitar there were no personal computers and I had to use a pitch pipe to tune up.

I bought an XXX Strat. I absolutely love it and will never get rid of it. It plays like a dream and sounds fantastics.

But Im going to mod the pickups. What pickups should I use?

Most everbody has figured out how to make strat pickups but Fender. They will have to go. There are several Austrailian companies that make good replacements. The secret is that they are wound in the Southern Hemisphere. :o When you drag them accross the Equator, that's when the magic takes place. Some players like to have there pickups flow up here with the plane flying in the direction of the spin of the Earth, but I think those folks are just silly.

Hey FenderCats-

I realize that there are some questions that make some of the old timers grunt and sigh. Thats the beauty of on open forum. Newbes and road worn vets can come here and chat about our love of music an Fender Musical Instruments. The old times need to think of the newbe questions as if they were asked by your little brother...We educate and put them on a path of self discovery. It's all about community. The nice thing is I can skip over the threads I dont want to read....and go for the ones I want. It's a buffet of Fender knowledge and ideas-

Frankly I would like to see more Youtubes and sound bites- It's cool to see what people are playing...

:?

I think most people who bought a Fender guitar chose it for it's sound...

In general, "who's the best _______?" That's especially true when there's no qualification by genre, time period or even the slightest definition of what the poster considers "best." Does he mean faster? Does she mean more technically proficient? And so on ... the less qualified the question, the more inane it really is.

I disagree.. That should be a stickied poll. :D

Dude, this thread is kinda messed up. Sure some questions can be kinda monotonous, but to a beginner a small simple answer can do a lot of good. I've personally never heard anyone ask which color is faster. What good would a forum be without being able to ask simple questions?

I'm not trying to scold anyone, but I say the more the merrier, and if people are afraid to ask a question, they'll just choose to go away. I've had a couple of my dumb questions answered. I while ago I did ask about the quality of a MIC Squier, and people were nice enough to answer. So because of it, I'm not too cautious of buying a MIC Squier if I run across one I like on ebay or something.

All kidding aside, and I've said it several times, the only dumb question is the question not asked. Further, as the history of these forums bear out, any coherent question on any level is virtually always answered without sarcasm to hopefully, the OP's complete satisfaction. We NEVER made a fool out of any OP's question.

As far as saying this thread is, "messed up". I wouldn't go that far. Rather, and I admit it, it was geared more towards us, "old farts" who have 'been around the block' a time or two. And, to give us a reality check too, yes, we probably pondered and asked many of these same questions when we were novices as well. I, for one, readily admit it.

Again, this was done all in 'geriatric' fun and rest assured, if you or anyone else for that matter has a legitimate question, regardless of the perceived 'level', it will in fact be treated seriously and answered without any sarcasm or demeaning undertones. We stand on our track record.

If you have been offended, I do apologize. Yet, as you can now see, this was clearly not my intention and I doubt very strongly, any of the other posters' intentions either.
