I am just a hobbiest, I have a Tele, ES335, Fender Deluxe, Champion 600, and a G-Dec. I don't gig, and don't have the budget for a Marshall tube amp combo or cabinent, what's the best option to get that Marshall crunch for a hobbiest at home on a budget. I have a Boss distortion pedal I run through the Deluxe but it aint no Marshall.

Any suggestions, amps or pedals greatly appreciated. I should be able to get some crunch using the ES335 right??

Thanks

Ray

MI Audio out of Austrailia makes a distrotion pedal called a CRUNCH BOX. I own it and haven't tried another distortion pedal since. Last distortion pedal I will ever buy. It's that good. Dial in anything from a blues, overdrive, distortion to metal.

we do not need a tube Marshall for that crunch, a solidstate Marshall can do the job , you just need a footswitch. I am using a Marshall Valvestate VS30R, the only Marshall series that cannot provide the real Marshall crunch is the MG series, as it is impossible to get the same quality for a much lower budget of design and parts.

You don't even need a Marshall. A low-wattage tweed like a 5f2a (Princeton) into a 12" speaker deliver awesome Marshall overdrive (when Jim Mamrshal was building his amps, he was trying to make super-powered versions of early Fender amps).

A tweed clone into an alnico 12" speaker is the true voice of rock and roll.
