Man, another person! She played Mrs Slocombe on the British Comedy show, "Are you Being Served?..." I watched it when I could on PBS. I'm sure our UK members could tell us more about her.

She was very funny on that show...

Rest in peace, Mollie Sugden.

Though you should be aware, some Britons reading this are squirming with embarrassment at the idea that particular low rent sitcom should be known beyond our shores. Oh the shame of it...

Dead right, I had no idea that show was known in the U.S. kinda makes you wonder what else of ours as been aired around the world.
However, correct to say, Rest in peace, Mollie Sugden. you will be missed by many.

I was a Monty Python fan so I used to enjoy "Are you Being Served" and "Fawlty Towers" whenever I could catch them.

Maybe not a show to be proud of but it's just a TV show, so it's not so important to hang your head in shame over.

RIP Molly...!

When they aren't raising funds, the PBS station in Miami shows two hours of "Britcoms" on Saturday night like "Are You Being Served", "As Time Goes By", "The Vicar of Dibley", and "Keeping Up Appearances". Later at night they show the more risque "Coupling". Sarah Alexander is hot!

You are full of surprises, Chet! That one's about as far as you can get from Dallas and Desperate Housewifes. I just can't imagine how that must look to your eyes!

Yes she is! And think on this: we've seen a lot more of her over here than network TV in the States will permit on screen...

Rhumba, the commercial arm of the BBC has for many years had a division called BBC America, pushing its shows on US stations - and not just PBS, from what I've seen. When watching TV in American hotel rooms I've seen shows of ours we'd be proud of - and many others we'd rather the world didn't know about! Are You Being Served is the least of it...

BTW: what do you think they'd make of Shameless, the other side of the pond...?

Cheers - C

Haha, now then, Shameless, there's a thought. I don't know whether I should be proud saying it ( smug smile ) but that's one of my favourites  I can't wait for the next series.
I don't know what the average American would make of it but I think it would go a storm with the fender forum guy's.
They might even be getting it Ceri, if not they are in for a treat when it arrives.
The Lakes was a rum one as well, don't you think? not quite as, shall we say 'permisive' as Shameless.
Do you think it would be allowed out of the country?
I'd love to hear their views on it, oh man! should we be getting away with that one here? great stuff.
