so my local store still has an 08 usa tele. crimson red transparent with rosewood. it was originally 1100 and since its an 08 it wasnt affected by the recent price hike. and also since its old, theyre gonna drop 100 off. prolly pickin her up tomorrow. planning to put in some noiseless pickups later on.

Congratulations! I think you are going to love that guitar. I agree with the above posters who suggest you leave the original pickups in. Give them a chance. I like mine. Good luck! 8)

Congrats! You've got a nice guitar on your hands. Got an '08 American Tele myself a few months ago and love it. I agree the stock pickups work great...

Congrats.

Add this picker in for recommending you keep the stock pups on board. Build a Parts-O-Tele or reload a Squier if you want to go the other pickups route.

hey guys.. thanks for all the congrats, but im afraid im gonna have to let you all down... i didnt get the tele. when i went back, the shop had gotten in two of the limited edition american standards. one strat in surf green and a tele in fiesta red. the salesmen (eric) and i have gotten to know each other lately, cuz im a regular there, and he suggested i stick with a stratocaster.

im a teenage punk band dropout that found a niche in blues and i help lead at church. eric and my friend mark said the tele is awesome but in the long run (10+ years or so) i'd be happier with the strat. and the different tone options. so i put the tele idea on the back burner and i actually tested out the american strat.

this time i played it without a bias toward the *tele twang is the only good blues sound* approach and i was taken aback. i never noticed the quack sound (neck/middle) before, but iv never really given a strat a heartfelt demo.

so guys, im sorry for getting your hopes up, but hopefully someone else who needs a good tele will run across it. that way, whoever buys it and i will both get the guitar of our dreams.

You didn't let anyone down, you bought the guitar you really wanted. A limited edition Surf Green American Standard Strat is a very cool looking, excellent guitar. Enjoy it. :)

Oh, and a pic or two would be nice. I love Surf Green Strats.

John
